Top of Kitchen Cabinet Use and Soup Tureen Collection

If you follow my blog, you would know that John retired last year and we moved right next door to my youngest daughter and her family's home in Florida. We downsized quite a bit. I sold a lot of stuff but we are still left with so much. If you know me, I love my dining and kitchen stuff and I have a tough time letting most of it go. I especially love my soup tureens. I sold a few before we moved but still has a lot and I had to be creative as to how to store or display them.

This is our kitchen here in FL. It is probably only a quarter of the size of our kitchen in Natchez, MS. But look at the top of the kitchen cabinets!! There is space there and an idea sank in.
I asked my son in law/neighbor, who is quite handy, to add plywood on top. I did not even have to buy the supplies because we had a queen size platform bed in the master BR that we replaced with a king size bed and the platform was made out of solid wood. He sawed it to the right size and used it. And there are the tureens, all displayed on top!

Would you like to see a close up? Here they are!

Some of my Polish Pottery collection
And duck tureens! John loves ducks and I collected these for him, then I satisfy both of us, lol.

I have more tureens left in Natchez, but no worry, cause I still have this cabinet on the other side and I can put them up there.
This is how they look like now. Those tureens are very bulky and very breakable and I am just so glad I found a place to store them.

Christine, you have a delightful collection of tureens. We have some atop our kitchen cabinets too, but just a few compared to this grouping. Glad you kept these.

Hi Christine! Oh, I love where you were able to put your tureens. Oh, and how smart to use the wood to make the area level. I wish I had an area like this! Your tureens look beautiful. I'm sure you're loving being in Florida right by your daughter and babies. We've certainly enjoyed our move to upstate New York to be close to our babies. Hope you're doing well, my friend.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Hi Christine,

How nicely your collection shows. I admire the blue of the Polish pottery; it just pops! Thanks for sharing.

Christine, what a fabulous collection of tureens you have! I really like the ducks and how you have placed the soup tureens up above your cabinets. That is where I display most of my teapots, above the cabinets. Thanks so much for sharing and enjoy your day.

Blessings,
Sandi

What a great place to display those tureens! I love that you can enjoy seeing them on a day to day basis. How fortunate that you could move right next door to your daughter! My parents have recently moved into the apartment above my garage. It is wonderful being so close! Where are you in Florida? I am in Celebration, right outside of Orlando! Thanks so much for sharing over at Celebrate Your Story!
