New Lladro and my Mom's Bedroom Redone Again?

It's Blue and Met Monday time again! Go over at Sally's blog at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ and Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ and check out who all is participating in these 2 fun events and take a look at all their blue treasures and all the transformations going on.

For my blue contribution, I would like to share the Lladro figurine that we just bought on recent Grand Cayman trip. Her name is Karina and she is quite tall at 17 inches. Do you see the Lladro sign above? They don't sell them but they have them in stores so I told the sales clerk that we will buy the figurine if she gave me the sign for free. And she said "Deal"!! LOL!.
I took out the fairy lamp so you can see her whole skirt. Isn't she a cutie? I love the jar she is carrying too!
Thank you Sally, for all the efforts you take in hosting this event.
If you have been following my blog, you must have seen me post this guest room before. We have designated this room for my soon to be 91 year old mom, who
rotates among us 5 brothers and sisters in 4 states. Right now, she is in FL and next month, she will be in Illinois.

Anyway, since I had to make room for the antique French armoire that dh bought for me, I had to move the plaid chair and ottoman that was in our bedroom. Now, you see that this room already has a leather chair and ottoman. I moved it into the other guest bedroom. This is how it used to be.
But the other guest room already had a matching chair and ottoman too, as our bedroom's, so I moved that in my mom's bedroom too.
This is how it looks like now, with the 2 plaid chairs. I placed the 2 ottomans on either side of the chairs. I also replaced the curtains and the beddings. They're not new, I just got them from the linen closet. Here is another view of the before
and the after.
I also moved my sewing machine from the laundry room into here because we bought a small freezer, which I placed in the laundry room. It is a little more crowded than it used to be but I think the room can accomodate everything I moved in here. I figured I can even watch TV here with my mom now with the 2 chairs. You don't see the TV but it's in the corner, across the chairs.
Hope you all enjoyed your visit. Thanks again to Susan and Sally for hosting Blue and Met Monday.

  8. The lady with the jar figurine is a lovely piece. Had to smile as to how the sign was acquired. I bet you'd still buy the figurine anyway :-) I never knew of a fairy lamp so I'm a bit curious.

The bedroom makeover looks cozy. There's just something about red. Warm and cozy. I love sewing machines (i Know, silly). I don't have one but it seems like such a handy tool with all the sewing and all :-)

  9. Karina looks like a hard worker. What a great deal to get the lladro sign. I have one for Hummels, only because my grandfather sold them.

  13. Karina is quite dark for a Lladro, but she is quite beautiful. I think you will soon need a larger house. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

  24. Your Lladro is gorgeous! My mom collects them. She used to be a member of the Lladro society and when she joined, she got one of those little signs. Hers is a little bigger though and has Don Quixote in blue at the bottom right. It's very pretty. Congrats on your awesome deal.
    Your met is great too!

  25. Christine,

I like your Lladro. I used to get a figurine for my Mother~In~Law for every birthday. She prized them. Your mother's room looks beautiful~the draperies really tie everything together.

I hope your feet are okay. Did you wear comfy shoes?

I am so excited about tomorrow. The Husband has been talking about a little Italian Bistro that he loves and thinks all of us will like, so I hope you don't mind that he has chosen. We will take a cab (Yipee for Christine and her poor feet!)

See you at 7:00. No need to dress fancy but I would love to see the Coach purse! ;-)

    xoxo

  38. Hi Christine,
responding to our comment about my being thin, ha, ha, I would say the most difficult thing is when I go to the Dr. she tells me I should lose 5 lb.s. At that point, I get frustrated --
Not a big deal, but I see people that are three of me, and I wonder what they say to them ? Besides, who wants to look like a scarecrow, right ???

  39. Hello~
Karina is sure lovely and how fun to get the Ladro sign too!! I have to tell you I was about to hyperventilate (sp?) when I was looking at your site and came upon your "Blue Transferware" post! I have never seen such an incredible collection and I LOVE every piece! I, too, collect blue transferware but have nothing like the amount you do, and some of your pieces I have never seen before!! Such fun to see your collection.
