Sharing Pink Meissen Figures and Then Let's Go Back to Ocho Rios!

It's Saturday, my favorite day of the week, especially when I used to work but now, it's my favorite because not only do I get to show you our pink possessions but I get to take you traveling with us. Pink Saturday is brought to us by Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/. Come join me in visiting her and enjoying everybody else's pinks. I would like to show you some Meissen figures that dh and I bought from an antique shop dowtown. But after you see them, please stick around because we are going back to Ocho Rios to see what we missed last Saturday. Isn't this Meissen couple lovely? I love all the details. Please click to enlarge so you can enjoy the details too.
Here's the back.
Here is another Meissen figures. And look, we can even serve nuts or jelly beans on their little bowls.
She is a beauty.
and he is handsome and they
make a lovely pair. I hope you enjoyed seeing the new addition to our collection.
Now, that we can go back to Ocho Rios and go sightseeing. If you ever want to post some travel or scenery pictures, I would love for you to join me. Just let me know on a comment before Sat. and I can add your permalink here. Chandy of http://whatnowtablescapes.blogspot.com/ is posting today so please make sure you visit her and find out what exciting place she is taking us.
Last Saturday, I posted some pictures, mostly from the Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I had a hard time uploading from the ship because the internet service is very slow and it was not taking all the pictures that I wanted to upload. So I thought I would take you back there. Here's my ever smiling granddaughter, AJ.
Aren't the mountains beautiful? I always enjoy a scenery with mountains and water together.
A tractor drawn jitney (picture way down below) took us around the Prospect Plantation, a 1000 acre agricultural working plantation established in the 18th century and the Great house seen below within the plantation.
In front of the house is a mahogany tree which was planted by Winston Churchill.
I like the shutter doors seen as we entered the house.
the study
I fell in love with this antique secretary.
and this curio cabinet
Dining room
If a china is broken, they used to send it off to England to be repaired. The tour guide said the repair was very expensive and what they did was staple it back together. I thought that was very interesting. You can click to enlarge the pic to see the staples clearly.
This picture is a little out of focus but I wanted you to see this gorgeous cabinet.
Furniture manufacturers used to make miniature furniture to show clients, who checked out the workmanship before ordering a full size one made.
I liked the water lilies in the pond behind the house so much that when we got home, I bought one from a local plant nursery, to put in our little fountain. I hope it survives. One thing good about it is that it never needs watering unless the pond dries up. LOL.
Just look at those pretty flowers.
The graden behind the house was gorgeous.
It even had a round pool.
Isn't that a breathtaking view? It has a view of the Caribbean Sea.
White Water Gorge.
Camels in the Plantation. Unlike the ostriches, we weren't allowed to feed them.
I love orchids and these were very pretty.
This is what took us around for a tour, a tractor pulled jitney.
Lots of vendors were seen at the port.
I hope you enjoyed our Ocho Rios tour. I know I showed you a lot of pitcures but don't worry, we will not come back here anymore...LOL! Thanks for joining me on another tour!

  4. Christine, the Meissen is just gorgeous. Both sets of figures are so beautiful and they do have such lovely detail. I love that you finished the tour. Your travels are so interesting and you always have the best dialogue to go along with it. I always have a good time. Thanks for stopping by, I love it when you visit. No to answer your question, the yard is not looking good. We have a lot of water restrictions right now. You guys have all had rain, but we havn't, so the cooler weather and then no water has everything looking a little drab, plus we won't be planting tons of flowers this year because of the water. So this will be just a year of trying to maintain. That's ok, we can have flowers in the fall if we get the summer monsoons. I hope you are doing well. Hugs, Marty

  25. Christine, your Meissen Figures are stunning, and very detailed. The figures with the bowls are not only pretty, but are so neat because you can put little mints in them.

Your trip to the plantation home was so interesting. I loved that Winston Churchill planted a tree in front of it, which is a great little piece of history.

  27. Hi Christine! Ai yi yi! Meissen...I accidentally broke a Meissen piece of my dear late mother in-laws collection about 20 years ago! She forgave me and in fact went out of her way to make sure that it was not important. I still feel bad to this day. Your pieces are just lovely!
