Just thought I'd give you an update from my post below. I got my full refund and more. The antique dealer was very gracious, gave me my whole check amount back, which means I got everything I bought that day for free. I did not want her to do that but she insisted. She said she did not want to lose us as customers.

I have double anxiety today. I have a dental appointment at 8:30 this morning (just venting while waiting) and I have to show you what upset me and John so much yesterday and we're still upset today. If you visited my blog a few days ago, you muct have seen this armoire that we bought from an antique shop downtown. I was shopping with a friend in Baton Rouge when the store owner called to see if anyone is home cause thay were ready to deliver. I called home and thought it was lucky, hubby was home so I called the owner back to tell her to go ahead and deliver.
But look what they did to the crown!
John called and was so upset. He said the 2 guys who delivered were so sloppy, they delivered the armoire and the top was broken, broke it even before they got there and told him just to buy Elmer's wood glue and just glue it. And he said they did not even take out the shelves which kept coming off, falling and damaging the wood as they were wheeling the armoire in. And as if, that was not enough, they broke our antique angel trio that was on the foyer and did not even apologize nor felt bad about it.
The cabinet was going in there and I was going to display my Meissen firgurines and Sevres vases in it.
There's our angel figurine before it was broken. I move things around and I had moved it to the foyer next to the little fountain.
Here it is now, with a head, hand and fingers broken off. My chest is tightening up just looking at it now.

It used to sit on that little stool there. I probably would have moved it seeing how sloppy the movers were if I was home but I wasn't.
John wanted me to call the owner to tell them to pick up the cabinet with our full refund, including delivery charges, plus pay for the figurine. I called the owner and expressed our disappointments. She said she was in the hospital with her daughter in labor and I hated to vent during her happy moment so I just told her about the cabinet being broken and that my hubby wants them to pick it up with our refund. I did not mention about her paying for the figurine cause she was so gracious apologizing and not giving me a hard time about giving us the refund.
I am supposed to call her back as soon as I get back from my dentist. I hope today will be a better day. But, I had fun shopping yesterday, LOL!. You all have a great day! Sorry to vent on you all!
Oh, my. I am so sorry! We had that happen and it is upsetting.
ReplyDeleteI had a wonderful time visiting my son in New Orleans. Was supposed to go to Baton Rouge, but time goes so quickly.
Oh man, that is just horrible! What kind of people do they have doing deliveries that are so careless with beautiful antiques!
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad they're taking it back and giving you a refund!
Justine ;o )
Christine, this is such a tragic mess. I think this poor lady really needs to find different deliery people. Your things are so pretty and what a shame they broke your gorgeous angel figurine. Sounds like a total nightmare. I hope things get resolved with full refunds for both pieces. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI'm getting mad just thinking reading this post... I have had so many hired workers damage things... over the years. It's just disgusting!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those weird people who actually like going to the dentist, but I know a lot of people HATE going. I hope it wasn't such a bed visit for you.
Can't wait to hear a follow up on this story.
Hope your day goes better now.
Oh my gosh Christine! I am so sorry! I hope she learned her lesson about using that delivery service! It was such a beautiful piece at such a good price! I hope she gets that service to pay her back! I almost cried when I saw your figurine! By the look of things you could look on the bright side and just be thankful they didn't break more!!! I hope your dentist appt. goes well! No fun at all! God Bless! Lauralu :)
ReplyDeleteWow I would be sooo mad too! Venting is good you don't want to bottle that up! It's a good warning story to other bloggers! I had some people try to do the same thing with our refrigerator they dented the side but because it inlays in like a pocketed area they didn't say anything and tried to hide it and turn the thing so I couldn't see the dent while they were putting it in. But too bad for them because I did see it! Got some money off too. Ugh frustrating. Sorry about your angels and your stuff :(
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Allison
I would be fuming too! What is it about some people that makes them so careless with other people's things and have so little respect. I would ask for damages, maybe those delivery guys will get their pay docked!
ReplyDeleteOoooh my heart just aches...and my dander is up just thinking about all this!! I can't believe the incompetence and Rudeness of these men!! I do think you should tell her that they broke your angel...at least she might not ever use them again! So sorry this happened to you! L~
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your troubles Christine! I'm glad they refunded you, but it still would have made me mad. I hope they fire those movers!
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet is beautiful broken or not though :)
xo,
rue
This is such a shame Christine. I'm glad that the shop owner was understanding and accomodating, but I do think you need to tell her about your broken figurine, if only so she knows how truly incompetent those movers are! Her next client might not be so gracious. Sorry for your troubles. Kathy
ReplyDeleteI just hate sloppy delivery people. There's no excuse for that. BTW, I love your blog redo.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a terrible thing to have happened. I feel so bad for you. At least the owner didn't give you any trouble. Still, breaking your statue was inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteOh Chritine, what a disaster! I'm so sorry that happened. How horrible that they broke the figuriene too! I'm glad she refunded your money, but she can't replace your lovely figuriene. And I'm sure you were looking forward to placing your pieces inside that cabinet! I bet you're going to find a cabinet you like even more. laurie
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about all that Christine! Your antique angels are beautiful. It drives me insane when some movers feel that they are not responsible for the things they break.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nightmare! ♥ Diane
