Being out of the country, I missed TT last week but I will more than make up for it today. Tablescape Thursday is hosted by Susan of http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. If you want to see amazing creativeness on tables, make it a point to visit Susan's blog.
This is not my main tablescape but I created this mini one just to wish you all a Happy Independence Day! I bought this bicentennial eagle plate in a yard sale for about a dollar a long time ago so this is my contribution for Thrifty Thursday, hosted by Leigh at http://lbratina.blogspot.com/. Make sure you visit her also to check out a lot of
thrifty goodies. The plates, napkins and tablecloth, or should I say tablepaper, are all paper....cheap, of course! (That's thrifty too!) I bought them from Big Lots. I hand carried this pair of candleticks holder from my home in FL. They're old but I like them. They were distributed by Princess House and have been discontinued. Of course if you want to see more details, you can click on the pictures to enlarge them.
And for the main event, I am sharing this exotic tablescape. Our recent Caribbean trip inspired me to create this.
Just want to share these lamp bulbs. They flicker just like candlesticks. Vanna of http://lvroftiques.blogspot.com/ (Vanna, where are you?) was the one who introduced me to them and I love them. Regular bulbs are very glary and it is so hard to take a picture of them but these are just perfect to emit just the right glow.
The tablecloth has an earthy pasley print and I bought it from TJ Maxx.
Artesian plates made by Tracy Porter, bought them from Horchow. Bamboo flatware from Ross for $9.99. I also bought the darker ones for the same price but I think this matches better with this dinnerware set. Please note the bamboo edge trim on the plate.
Salad plate from the same Artesian collection. How do you like my napkin fold? I copied it from the ship.
The tray server is also from the Artesian collection. I really like the peacocks on them.
The peacock salt and pepper are from Neiman Marcus. Gloria of http://wwwhappytobe.blogspot.com/ told me about them when they went on sale. Thanks, Gloria!
The small bamboo tray is part of my sushi set. I think it blends well with my bamboo theme.
I just bought this bell from St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands last week.
The colored crystal goblets (set of 4 different colors) and the smaller clear wine crystals are from Ross.
Do you see those oval server set (set of 3, the other one is in the other side) in a wicker and iron stand? They were waiting from me when we arrived from our trip last Sunday. I cannot believe I won them on Ebay for $5.50 for the whole set....another contribution for Thrifty Thurs. I love the colors, pattern and they are oven proof too!
And many of you might have seen this peacock centerpiece on RMS and on Laurie of http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/ 's post before Christmas'2008. That was before my blogging days. Isn't he majestic? He is huge! I bought the whole set of feather balls for $5 at a garage sale.
The cardinal s&p came from a shop in Celebration, FL. We passed through there after we disembarked from the ship last Saturday. The community was developed by Disney and is really nice. I will post pics on next week's Outdoor Wed.
Wonderful tables, Christine!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty tablescapes! I love both of them! Yay Biglots!

Christine--I had to enlarge and make sure I did not miss any details! The colors are so vibrant! I loe the peacock and salt and pepper shakers! Beautiful! Have a happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteSo so beautiful of tables, Christine! I love all the details in each one!
ReplyDeleteLove your tablescapes -- both of them! happy 4th.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your post. The ship inspired table is out of this world, but the paper one is more my speed!
ReplyDeleteLove your tables Christine! Those teapot napkin rings are too cute!! Your dining room is so elegant!! Another beautiful setting. Happy 4th to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteChristine,
ReplyDeleteBoth tablescapes are wonderful. I love the candleholders in the 1st. I can see why you brought them back with you. The 2nd tablescape is both exotic and elegant. It would be such a feast for the eyes to be seated at this table for dinner. I kept looking and enlarging to see that table topper. I thought necklaces were strewn on it! LOL!! Soooo pretty!! The peacock is magnificant. I would never have a place to store him! And your ebay win is fantastic (again, someday I will learn how to do this ebay thing. But then I might not have time for blogging!!) I know I have missed many more things I love on this table, but overall, it is just the fanciest and finest I have seen so far.
I wish you a wonderful and safe holiday. We will leave for the lake tomorrow and will have company all weekend long. I will take some pics and you can meet the Irish side of the family!
xoxo
Jane
Love these tables. They were worth the wait. Thanks for the comment on my blog. You are entered in the giveaway. I am making a list of all the entries this week and will post the winner in the morning.
ReplyDeleteChristine,
ReplyDeleteI love the rich colors in your tablescape, very elegant. I like your tribute to the 4th too! Have a great 4th of July!
Christine, I loved seeing both tables, but I think you knocked it out of the ballpark with your Caribbean inspired one. LOVE the china, and that's a great price on that flatware. I thought I had done well at Beall's. I got a number of five-piece place settings for a good price, but I think you might have gotten that other for a better price! :-) I will have to go check at Ross and see if they have the darker. I have the lighter, but I would love to have dark, too. Thanks for the tip. And I adore that china!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)

ReplyDeleteWow Christine! You've really outdone yourself! But you always do! You are one talented, busy and traveling lady! I love Tracy Porter dinnerware! I don't have her plates but I have alot of her salt and peppers and butter dish and a tray. I saw you went to the Virgin Islands! I've been to St. Croix twice on business with my husband's company. I love it! It's so gorgeous! You have a blessed day! Lauralu :)
ReplyDeleteChristine, that table topper is absolutely stunning, and those all of your table accessories go so well with it! What a gorgeous tablescape! (Your new peacock s/p shakers are perfect!) And that set of feather balls for $5 was an amazing deal, and those are so great in your peacock centerpiece. Your 4th of July table is so festive, and those antique candlesticks are so pretty! Have a wonderful holiday weekend. laurie
