Blue Polish Pottery, Family Reunion on My Mother's 90th Birthday

I just realized it is Monday and I did not want to be left out for Blue Monday, which is hosted by Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/. Be sure to visit her awesome blog. I am in Florida so I really do not have a lot of my stuff with me but I have been shopping. Hey! I got nothing better to do, ok? My cable is not even hooked up here so I have 3 TV's that I cannot watch except for DVD's.
I pulled out stuff that I have already packed so here they are, lol! I decided to start collecting Polish pottery dishes so I went to 2 TJ Maxx's, Marshall's and Ross so far and these are what I have bought. I am not done yet but I think I will have to buy another luggage cause I only brought one and it is more than full. I have been shopping on Ebay too but those items are going to be delivered directly to our main home.

I love how heavy they are and that they can be used from dishwasher to oven. I hope I don't have to pay overweight in the airport and I hope none of them breaks. I brought some packing material from home which will help.
I also love the different patterns. I am so excited that I found something that I can start collecting again.

Below, you will see my mother's 90th birthday celebration, Hey! Lots of blue in this pic too.

Almost a year have passed since we celebrated my mother's 90th birthday. We decided to have a reunion at the same time so that we can all spend her very special day with her. We knew she would be elated when she sees everybody she loves and who loves her back, surrounding her.

My niece booked a 5 bedroom plus 2 more 3 bedroom condos in Kissimmee at a place called Reunion Resort. It was perfect cause the resort had pools, a water park, golf course and tennis courts.

Here is all of us. Big family huh!
We took another picture outside the 3 bedroom condo where my kids, grandkids and I stayed. My brother and his family stayed in the other 3 bedroom condo. My mother with my oldest sister and her family, my other sister and a brother who do not have kids stayed in the 5 BR one.

I decided to join Mosaic Monday with Mary of http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/. You should visit her blog, check out the creative mosaics and read the tutorial there on how to do Mosaics if you need help.

I am entering this post for Outdoor Wednesday too since the last Mosaic was all taken outdoors. Please visit Susan of http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ to see more outdoor participant entries.

All of my mother's children, grandkids and great grandkids came from all over US, California, Illinois, MS, MO and a lot from Florida. We were almost complete, even exes were there except my dh John and one of nieces' ex could not make it.

Wasn't my mother glowing? I just love her skin, not too many wrinkles for that age. The moisturizers she used over the years must really help. The first picture in the mosaic shows us 5 brothers and sisters. The following pictures show each child, from the oldest to the youngest, and their descendants. I am the 4th child, second to the youngest. There are 5 of us. The same colored shirt was worn per family. Remember you can click on these pictures to enlarge them and see more details.
We had a lot of activities. We ate a lot. All of us congregated and ate in the big 5 BR house. We played chess, mahjong, Guesstures and had a contest for the kids to draw their great grandma. Below you will see AJ's drawing and my grandson's rather more of a scribbling (he was only 11 months old then).
We had outdoor activities too. The 5 BR condo had a pool and jacuzzi. The kids had fun swimming. We all went to the water park together and we had a blast wading in the lazy pool and going on water slides. And will a reunion be complete without shopping? Nope! So, of course we went shopping too, at an Outlet Mall in Orlando.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures. They should all be clickables. We all had so much fun during that weekend that until now, the kids and grandkids cannot stop talking about it. I am so thankful to God that my mother is still pretty healthy and she will be 91 on the 24th of this month.

Thanks for your visit and thanks to Sally, Mary and Susan for hosting these 3 fun events. I just love having FUN, don't you?

  2. It looks like you had a wonderful time! You have a beautiful family too. I love getting together with my family for reunions. My Mom's side of the family is very close, but my Dad's is not. Fifteen years ago it was just the opposite. When my Dad's Mom died the family sort of fell apart, she was the heart and soul of the family. Hope your week is spectacular!

  16. I know I've already commented...

...but I just wanted to add-how wonderful and blessed to have your mom! I went back to look at all your photos of the time together...

...soo awesome! I love the photo of all of you gathering to play mah-johng :o) my mom would have lots of fun playing this with her girlfriends. It always amazed me to see her and the other seasoned players, "feel" and know what the tiles were, even before looking at them!

(oh I also love polish pottery! I have all my everyday dishes in polish pottery, cuz they are so fun to mix and match). I'll have to post about how I started my collection of them about 10 or more years ago.

and thank you for stopping by and commenting. It is always a fun surprise to check and find a comment :o)
