A Pink Dotted CLoche and St. Thomas, Virgin Isl.

I decided to post early because I am leaving this afternoon and won't have a computer available to me.
If you want to participate in Sightseeing Saturday, please enter your name and permalink below AFTER you have published your post.

Are you ready to see some pinks? Are you ready to go sightseeing? That's right! It's Saturday so Beverly of http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ is again hosting Pink Saturday and I am hosting Sightseeing Saturday. I would like to encourage you to join both memes. It's fun! For my pink contribution, I would like to show you a little cloche with light and hot pink polka dots that I just bought a few days ago while here in Fl. Ross had 2 of them, one had blue dots. I thought they were cute so they both hopped unto my shopping cart.

Now, let's go sightseeing and explore the Virgin Islands, in St. Thomas.
We like to go shopping there because it is a US territory so whatever we buy is duty free in unlimited number. We like to go to this flea market.Fort Christian is the oldest building, built in 1671, still in daily use in St. Thomas. This brick fortress protected the town from pirates and European armadas. The fort has served as St. Thomas' first Government House, a church, a jail, police headquarters and a community government center. Today it is home to the Virgin Islands Museum. Aren't these just breathtaking?

This is Magen's Bay, one of the top 10 beaches of the world. It is heart shaped and is approximately 1 mile long.

I wasn't ready to go swimming so I did not bring a bathing suit. Our plan was that AJ and her dad would go to the beach while John and I shopped,
but a tour guide whom we met at the flea market talked us into taking a tour which ended on the beach. AJ took this with an underwater camera. Isn't the water so clear and blue?
There's AJ and John snorkeling at Sapphire Beach, which has a large reef close to the shore.
Here's a sea grape tree (Coccoloba uvifera). It is an inhabitant of the Caribbean and is very tolerant of sea water. It grows along the sandy beach.

Thank you very much for stopping by and thanks, Beverly, for hosting another fun pink event.

I'm a little late with my Pink Saturday visits because I had my grandsons for the weekend and couldn't tear myself away from them☺

  32. Christine,

I am missing so many of your posts because I am up at the lake. I apologize. In fact I am going to go back to your most recent post to explain this further.

I love the cloches from Ross. They are very playful and I think it will be very neat to see what you put inside.

Your Virgin Island pictures are breathtaking. You always manage to sightsee, shop and play on all of your trips. You would be fun to travel with. And so far I have never been to any of the places you have. Hopefully now that I almost have an emty nest, we will get to travel more, particularly outside the U.S. My passport has dust on it!!

    Very nice post!!

    xoxo
    Jane
