I did not want to miss Tablescape Thursday so before I left home to go to FL, I copied the table setting of the last dinner that we had into my memory stick. To see more wonderful table creations, go to Susan's blog at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com
One of the hospital physicians bought an antebellum house downtown and he is converting the lower floor into a bed and breakfast. He was telling John about his plans and John, knowing that I love to shop, thought I could give him some ideas. So, he invited him over for dinner. He is an unattached bachelor so I thought I could make the table a little more fun and wild, thus the safari theme. John wanted to invite another single guy but he could not find him so I eventually took another place setting out and there were only 3 of us for dinner.
There is "life" even in the jungle.
I bought the table runner from Z Gallerie in Tampa a while back. I really like the material (linen), the print and the unusual shape.
I basically just put together what I already had. I bought the feathered orbs from a yard sale last year but I could only fit 3 in this mirrorred tray. There were a whole bunch of them in 2 sizes for $3.00.
The vase with flowers and the bird were in the powder room and I just borrowed them from there. I have a jungle themed powder room.
I used the bubble amber glass goblets I bought from Amazon 2 Christmasses ago and Chris Madden amber champagne stems from Ross I bought after Christmas 2008.
I debated whether or not I should use my flatware with bone handles or the brass Siamese flatware with mahogany handles. You can see here which one won. I could have used the ones with bamboo handles too, couldn't I?
The leopard placemats were from TJ Maxx on clearance for $2 each, the dinner plates and salad plates were from Marshalls, I think, and so are the dessert plates. I got the wooden oval plate chargers from Horchow or Neiman Marcus a long time ago.
