Corner China Cabinet

Lady Katherine came by for a visit and told me to link this post to Tea Time Tuesday since the cabinet has a tea/coffee set. This makes me happy because I really wanted to join Katherine. I just got side tracked from all the house cleaning for being away for a month. Be sure you visit Lady Katherine at http://ladykatherineteaparlor.blogspot.com/ for more tea party fun.
Tuesday is here again and our gracious host, Marty of http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/, is again hosting an event where we can show off our tabletops. Marty said we can show stuff that is on top of anything so for today, I am showing you my favorite china cabinet and what is on its shelves. It is located in the formal dining room.

Since it is one of my favorite furniture, I would also like to link with Miss Mustard Seed at http://missmustardseed.blogspot.com/
Be sure you visit these 2 ladies' blogs and see some awesome posts of furniture and vignettes.

Just like I said, this corner mahogany china cabinet is in the formal dining room. For months, I walked into several furniture stores in both FL and MS, trying to find a corner china cabinet that I like without success. I just could not find the look that I want. So, where do you think I found this? Ebay!! Yep, I found it on Ebay listed by an antique store in Pennsylvania. But I had to take care of getting it shipped to me. I spent over $300 on shipping alone but the guy was very careful and the cabinet got here in one piece without any damage so I was happy.

It's not very obvious but the glass on both doors are curved. I was able to put 4 sets of china here. I know I crammed a lot inside but I need all the storage I can use.

Behind the glass doors are these. Details will be shown below.

On the very top shelf are antique Tirschenreuth plates and antique pink and burgundy red expresso coffee cups and saucers. A few Tirschenreuth cream soup cups and saucers are also there and some blue goblets. Also stored there are gold and platinum china with a Greek key design coffee set and gravy server. The dishes are stored in the bottom cabinet. We have a complete service for 12.

In the middle shelf are more Tirschenreuth salad plates, a green expresso cup and saucer and cream soup cups and saucers and the Greek key designed tureen and oval servers and the blue fleur de lis goblets.

The bottom shelf behind the glass doors contains more blue goblets and blue Tirschenreuth expresso cups and saucers and the plates and bowls, S & P shakers in the gold and platinum Greek key design.

Now, we are in the bottom shelves behind the wood doors. I labeled them so they are self explanatory.

I need a lot of storage because I have so much stuff so I use every space available. On top of the cabinet is a covered urn, 2 glass angel candlesticks holders and a dragonfly. Outside the door hangs a peacock tassel I bought from Angela. Do you see the carved details of the sides of the cabinet on the bottom left of the mosaic?

I just wanted to show you the dragonfly peeking down.

Doors at the bottom have inlaid wood and the picture at the bottom shows them open.

I hope you liked the cabinet as much as I do. Thanks again for coming by. And many thanks to our 3 hostesses. Don't forget to visit them!

  21. Hi Christine...

Ohhh...I remember your fabulous corner cabinet! I love all the pretty inlaid wood designs in the cabinet doors...sooo pretty! It looks gorgeous in your beautiful dining room too!!! Hehe...I had fun looking through your cabinet...sooo many pretties! I think that your antique Tirschenreuth dishes are one of my favorites of all your dishware! I love that light colored green and the pretty floral pattern! Oooh...and that pretty peacock tassel...gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful antique cabinet and all those fabulous dishes with us today! Such a treat!!!

I'm so glad that you came by and took a peek at my Birds of a Feather tablescape...I really enjoyed your sweet note, my friend! That's right, I had forgot that you said that you had the Brookshire dishes too! Can't wait to see a beautiful table done with them at your place! I know...they really are more Autumn and Winter dishes. I just had to hurry and do a tablescape with them...they were "burning a hole in my pocket" so to speak! Hehe! They are now put away in my china cabinet...probably won't see the light of day until next Fall! Eeeks...I sure don't want to rush through Spring and Summer though! I'm sooo ready for some warmer weather! It's been really cold and raining at our place. I just looked out and the rain has turned to snow...sheesh! Come on Spring!!!

    Love ya,
    Chari

  22. My goodness, Christine ...

It's a dishaholic's fantasy! I've never seen SO many beautiful pieces of china displayed in one place (including fine retail and antique shops!)!!!

I noticed that the colors of the china coordinate perfectly with your wallpaper. Which came first ... the dishes or the decorating?

    Warmest regards,
    Bill
