The Owl and a Crawfish Party!

It's Wednesday and I am excited to join 2 events: Outdoor Wednesday, which is hosted by Susan of http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/
and Watery Wednesday at http://waterywednesday.blogspot.com/
Be sure to visit these blogs to see some breathtaking outdoor pictures.

For the last 2 years, everytime I garden around dusk, I could hear something hooting. I look around but I can never find anything and I could never figure out where it is coming from. Finally last week, I saw this big bird fly above me and then landed on the tree branch. I immediately went in the house to grab my camera.
Sorry but this is the closest I can get him. The tree is very tall.

See those big eyes?
Every year, we go to a crawfish party. I always end up eating so much cause they are so good. They are served with potatoes, mushrooms, corn and sausage.
There were ice chests full of crawfish with different degree of hotness, all 700 lbs of them. There's my good friend, Nit with me. Unfortunately, this is probably the last crawfish party I will be attending with her because her hubby just got a new job in Alaska. Nit is my shopping and karaoke partner and I will miss her dearly. I will miss her good Thai food too.

There is a pond nearby.
We really enjoyed the view from where we were eating.

John was just chilling out enjoying the tranquility.

Everybody was busy munching away! See how the tables have holes in the center and we just throw all the shells in there. Of course there is a trash can underneath to catch them.

What can be better than eating crawfish while listening to country music?

After we stuffed ourselves, we headed home and right ouside the property were these cows.
Don't you just love the cow with the white face?

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the crawfish party. Thanks to our lovely hostesses for these 2 fun events.

  1. Waah, Christine, I am so jealous! How many people can consume 700 lbs of them?

I better take benadryl before eating them!

    Happy Wednesday!

  2. Great shots of the owl. I don't think I can eat crawfish. I use to work for a doctor from Louisiana and she would bring some to work and suck the heads. I thought that was gross. I am sure you like them, but I would rather eat crab legs!!

  3. Christine, those are fantastic shots of the owl - great job! I just love them, they are really magnificent birds. And that crawfish party looks like a blast. A perfect day, and what a great view. My boss is from Morgan City, and I think we are about due for a crawfish boil :) Kathy

  4. Fun post! Looks like a good time! I used to have to teach a unit on crawfish, or crayfish as we call them here. I got pinched many times!

  19. Great shots of the owl! My oldest son would have been in crawfish heaven at your crawfish party! Every year we go to a crawfish festival held locally and he devours more than his fair share of them. Love the cows! Looks like everyone had a great time at the party!

  24. What a great day you had. I haven't tried crawfish. I always see people with full plates of them when I go to the buffet at the Orlean's in Vegas. Maybe this year I will try some! We have an owl that comes around to hoot!

  25. What a very neat party. I love the table with the holes in them. I went to a crawfish party once and the table was spread with newspaper so that the shells could just be rolled up in it. How fun to have live music! Do you have a Chicago sweatshirt on?!

Love the owl. I really have a thing for owls, even though they are a little frightening!

    xoxo
