This post will reflect my love for lions but don't get me wrong. I wouldn't go near a live one though, lol.
I added my silver plated S & P shaker in a silver plated litle tray. Sorry, no lion on this one.
See the feet?
I like the handle because it has a lion head.
I bought both dome and lion head flatware from either Neiman Marcus or Horchow a while back, both on sale of course. I thought the dome flatware storage is unusual and I like unusual items.
The dome is big and very heavy. I always have to be extra careful in lifting it for fear of breaking it. For that reason, it is one of the things that gets rarely moved around the house.
The S & P shakers were won on Ebay, very cheap maybe around $5.99, but it's been a long time ago so I don't exactly know anymore.
I have all 3 sitting on top of our little corner cabinet in the formal dining room. Do you see the bird oil painting with fruits on the wall? It's my very first painting. My youngest daughter turned 12 and for her birthday I decided to give her an oil painting set with an easel. One weekend, I thought we could both try painting. I saw a picture of this in a book, drew it on the canvas and just painted. I thought it turned out ok but even if it did not, I probably wouldn't throw it away because it is my very first.
Since I am into lions right now, I will show you my lion chair again. It is of course in the formal living room. Dh gave it to me for an anniversary present a few years ago. I was telling him the story of how we used to have one in the Philippines that me and my 2 sisters really liked. Then one day, a friend of my dad came over. He told him he really likes the chair. Would you believe that he just gave it to him?My sisters and I were all so upset but what can we do? After all, he was our dad and it was his decision. Oh well, I got my own now and I am not giving it away, lol.
Hi Christine! I love your gorgeous tea set...so pretty with its lion feet! Your chair is wonderful...love the fabric, too! and I think you did a nice job painting! I don't think I can show my stick people! lol Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHi Christine,
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! I love the lions. They make the pieces so unusual and unique! You have the prettiest "stuff".
Kelly
Hi, Christine,
ReplyDeleteYour silver is beautiful. That lion flatware is amazing. I've never seen any like that before.
D
Christine, your silver teapot is stunning. I havn't seen the lion head pattern before, just gorgeous. Your silver dome is fabulous. How unusual. I so hope you will show it at the cloche party, it is really fabulous. Love the silverware. The salt and pepper are pretty on their tiny tray, and of course the chair is unreal for sure. You do have such beautiful things. Also, I think you did a beautiful job on your first painting. So pretty. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Christine!

Kathy
I agree. Love lions but don't go near real ones. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my, your father just gave away that beautiful chair? Oh my, no wonder you were upset. And personally, I don't think he should have.
It had become almost a family heirloom, if you and your sisters loved it so. One does not have the "Right" to just give away family heirlooms, out of the family, "willy-nilly". Grrrrrrrrrrr, Daddy... So there. :-)
Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such beautifull things before. The tea pot and the flatware with the lions are great. I love this lion heads, they are often used in the classical era in Italy and Greece. The flatware dome is stunning, what a beautifull way to display flatware. You are really an artist, not only in tablescape but also in painting. Oilpainting is a difficult thing and you did it masterly.
Greetings, Johanna

ReplyDeleteHi Christine! I'm just amazed at all of your pretty things! Your tea pot is so gorgeous - is it an antique? Your silverware holder under the dome - so wonderful and your silver ware is beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteYour chair. Well, it could be your throne lion's head chair! After all, you are the Most High Queen!!
