Summer Means Having Meals on the Deck

It is just so relaxing outside with the trees full of leaves and the flowers full of blooms that I decided to have lunch with AJ on the deck. Since John was working and it was just me and my granddaughter, we had it on that little wooden table. We will just have a light lunch, ham sandwich, some chips and iced tea.

She was patiently waiting as I prepared our sandwiches.

This corner of the deck will be the perfect setting.

Can you see my secret garden in the background down below?

Ham with mayo, that's how she likes it, no other condiments or veggies. I served the iced tea in a mermaid pitcher on a mermaid tray. Doesn't the color look refreshing? It even matches the pool water?

There she is all happy, waiting patiently for us to eat.

She asked me how can mermaids give birth to baby mermaids if they have no butts. LOL! I didn't quite know how to answer that. I told her to ask "Uncle John" when he comes home. He is the doctor, he should know.

Aaaah! Refreshing iced tea!

Sandwich on the shell bordered plate is all gone!

AJ can now play, after all she is content and happy and no longer hungry.

This is her last weekend with us and we are surely going to miss that girl!

A question about eating outdoors.. How do you keep bugs away? All sorts of flying things always spoil it, when we try to eat out on the patio. -sigh- But so many people do, eat out. I'd love to know the secret. :-)

As always, I'm loving glimpses of your simply beautiful home! Inside and out!

    Gentle hugs...

  47. Your mermaid picture is adorable as is AJ's question about them. I was raised with old Irish fairy tales. If she has not gotten an answer yet you can tell her that sometimes mermaids come on dry land as humans so that must be when they have their babies *smile* Take care.

And now I'm thinking how neat it is that you have that wonderful water spout thing for the kids. AJ is so cute lying there! And the mermaids are so much fun! Don't you love mermaids? They just speak summer to me!

  53. How I would love to jump into that pool right about now! It is soooo hot and humid here in Michigan! But, I will just have to stay inside with the airconditioning blasting away :) We have both a covered porch, and a deck off the north side of our house...but it's a bit difficult to try to eat out on either one of them because we have 4 outside kitties that will try to get at our food LOL !! Oh well.

Wishing you a Happy Teacup Tuesday!

    Warmest hugs, Brenda
