It's All Greek to Me!

I am going to be busy this week. The painter supposedly painted my shop yesterday so tomorrow, I am going to start stocking it. I am anxious to see how it looks like. I decided on a yellow wall color called Bee's Wax.

I will just post my tablescape and hopefully nobody will complain for me linking it with Tuesday's memes as well as for Tablescape Thursday. I don't think I will have any time to post any more blog entries for this week but we'll see.

I would like to thank our gracious hosts for all these fun memes.

My tablescape for today is really all Greek to me! Most of the table accessories came from Greece when we toured Rhodes, Athens and Katakolon.

See the Greek key design on the coffee/tea set?

How about on the tureen?

I scattered Greek gods and goddesses for centerpieces.

I used my Bavarian platinum and gold china because they have a Greek key design. I don't use these very often because they are too simple. I bought them after we moved here so that I can have a formal china that can be used with either gold or silver accessories. I think I used them once when we invited a few employees from the hospital for a Christmas dinner party 3 years ago.

Corinthian columns are very common in Greece, You will see them everywhere even in old ruins.

Here is a close up of the dinnerware. I used Italian glass plate chargers which I bought from Neiman Marcus about 2 years ago. Sorry I do not have any chargers in Greek but I think they blend anyway, don't you?

I like the simple shape of the coffee pot or is it a teapot? Maybe you tea experts can blog about the difference between tea, coffee and chocolate pots. I would love to know the difference!

Here is the tea cup. Everything is matchy-matchy today, lol. This is a big set, a complete service for 12.

The wine stemware has a Greek key design also. And to add more color, I used my amber goblets along with it.

I try to buy a jar, urn or vase with the country name inscription whenever we travel. I don't know why I do not have one from Athens. But I am sure I will go back there cause dh has not been there and I want him to see the Acropolis. I will make sure I buy one then.

Even the tablecloth is Grecian. I bought it from Rhodes, Greece. I love the light crinkle material and the embroideries. However, the rug is not, close though, it's Turkish. I bought it from Istambul. Turkey. John can never forget when I bought it because I woke him up at 4 AM with a phone call and told him to log on the internet and help me pick out of 2 rugs that I liked. I emailed him pictures. The seller had a computer and he let me use his phone to make an overseas call. I am sure he made enough money off of me, lol. The rug was shipped and it reached home before I did.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my Grecian tablescape. I certainly enjoyed having you by!

  31. Beautiful tablescape! I can't even imagine dreaming that up. Your tea cup is lovely. I always like a gold design on a cup.
From what I can tell, a coffee pot is taller and slimmer, while a tea pot is often more squat and round. At least it is usually shorter. Tea pots come in all shapes. Chocolate pots are quite slim and a bit shorter than a coffee pot. Sometimes it helps to see the cups that may come with the pot to determine its use. If it comes in a set with a sugar and creamer, you know it is not a chocolate pot.
In the end, you can use whatever you like to serve what you choose.
    Hugs,
    Terri
