This week surely went fast. I am going home tomorrow. And I am so tired from shopping. Did you ever think I would ever get tired shopping? LOL! My 72 year old sister outlasts me for sure. I cannot believe her energy, she never gets tired. Anyway, for Sightseeing Saturday, I will show you a little bit of my trip to Chicago.

Can you imagine how much I bought? I am sure you will after you see my new favorite set and it's pink! We shopped everyday I was here. Boy! Will John be surprised to see me leave with 1 checked in luggage and 1 hand carry and then come back with 4 check ins and 2 hand carries with 2 more luggage and a tote packed inside the 2 big luggage? LOL!
And here's my new favorite! I bought 2 full size pink luggage, 1 slightly smaller and another even smaller, and a tote, so it was a set of 5 bags altogether. You know we are only allowed 2 free checked in luggage with Southwest so I had to put the others inside the bigger ones.
That "lightweight" sticker outside sold me to them. If you are a traveler, I am sure you would understand.
I took pictures while flying before landing to Milwaukee. Isn't that a gorgeous sunset? It rained in Orlando as soon as we boarded so we sat inside the plane for 2 hours waiting for the rain to stop before we took off. I did not mind that at all because I was relaxed just playing Scrabble on my i Phone while waiting, unlike my trip to California when I was sweating and trembling while running between gates in the airport, to catch my flight and still was left behind.
We used to live here in Illinois when the kids were small. They were all born in this area. My baby Angelino was buried here so naturally, the first thing I wanted to do was visit him.
We visited some friends. That's my sister and my 92 year old mom.
This is in our friend's neighborhood. I had to let my sister stop the car so I could get out and take pictures. It looked so pretty and relaxing.
My mom at 92 still plays mahjong and she loves doing it so we played for hours. We went to Chicago the next day.
Summer is always a fun time to come here, it is much cooler that where I came from. John said it was 104 degrees when I called him.
The lamp posts with the hanging planters downtown Chicago are so pretty.
I just love the old buildings there.
We saw the Millenium Park.
I had to attend to some official business at the Philippine Embassy.
And then we went to Macy's to shop till we dropped.
That's the story of my trip to Chicago. I am almost all packed and ready to go home now. I hope you all have a nice weekend. Thanks for coming by and thanks to our gracious hostesses for hosting these fun memes.
Of course I LOVE this post. Can you believe I have never done a post about downtown Chicago. I am so glad you had a good time, I didn't know you were visiting, just Milwaukee. Beautiful pictures, can't wait to see what you bought.

Christine-I was just checking flight prices to Chicago--thought a trip at Christmas time would be fun! I did not know you had lost a son. I cannot imagine anything harder. I am so sorry that you have had that kind of pain. Your mom is a young 92! I play mahjong on the computer all the time. I did not know you could play it with more than one person :) Do you play it with cards? Love your luggage and the color! Just rest---you'll feel like shopping again :) Have a safe trip home!
ReplyDeleteChristine, I am so sorry about the loss of your son. I am glad you had the opportunity to visit.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are great - I really like your shots of the sunset out the plane window. I like your new luggage too - how bright and pretty and your photos of downtown Chicago are fun. I'm glad you had the chance to visit your sister. She definitely looks young for her age as does your mother. Enjoy your time with your mother. I look forward to your next post. Oh, and by the way, your Rooster party table is just fabulous!
Blessings, Beth

I just bought some pink polka dot luggage this week because it is pink and I never travel anywhere. Thanks for sharing your trip-I live in Central Illinois. Your mom is wonderful-all 92 years.
ReplyDeleteYour mother and sister are charmers! Love the new luggage - that won't be hard to spot in the airport carousel. The pictures of Chicago brought back good memories. I haven't been there for several years. Are you staying home for awhile, now? Sally

ReplyDeleteHAPPY PINK SATURDAY CHRISTINE,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE TRAVELING WITH YOU...WE LIKE THE VERY SAME THING WHEN IT COMES TO PHOTOGRAPHS...YOUR MOTHER IS BEAUTIFUL AND SUCH A YOUNG 92...I WAS LOOKING AT HER ANKLES AND THEY ARE NOT EVEN SWOLLEN. MY MR. SIMPLY SPENDS A LOT OF TIME PLAYING MAHJONG ON THE COMPUTER AND WE DID NOT KNOW YOU COULD PLAY MORE THAN ONE PERSON. YOU'LL HAVE TO DO A TUTORIAL ON IT.
I DID NOT HAVE A CLUE YOU HAD A BABY ANGALINO THEODORE...(THEODORE IS MY FATHER'S FIRST NAME) AND THEN 8 DAYS LATER YOU HAD TO GIVE HIM BACK TO GOD. I AM SO VERY SORRY THAT IS A PAIN YOU HAD TO ENDURE. VERY, VERY SAD.
I LOVE ALL THE PHOTOS OF THE BUILDINGS...I LOVE THE SKYLINES OF CITIES.
HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic trip you had!!! Great story and great photos!
ReplyDeleteChristine this post is beautiful, start to finish!
ReplyDeleteI've only been to the Chicago airport on my was to Israel. Thanks for the tour, your trip looks amazing. Your mom looks in great shape for a woman in her 90's..... you have good gene's.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Christine, I am SURE John was not at all surprised at how much you came home with! He probably DID wonder who held your purse for you while you shopped! Love your new pink luggage. If anyone needs lightweight luggage, it is definitely a tiny traveler like you. Your mom amazes me. She looks great. Wonderful photos of California. I didn't know you had lost an infant son. I'm so sorry. What a beautiful cemetery to visit. Thank you for linking to Fav. Things Sat. (I'm late getting here, because our granddaughter had a horseback riding accident and was taken to the hospital in Memphis on Fri. She's fine now and got home this afternoon, but it did put me behind on my blog visiting). laurie
ReplyDeleteThanks again for being a part of "Summer Sundays".

I'm so sorry about your baby...I'm glad you got to visit. Love the luggage and it was fun seeing the Chicago pictures. We love Chicago (to visit...small towns to live) and we used to go all the time when we lived only 100 miles away. Now, we tend to head to St. Louis when we want city life. There is nothing quite like Michigan Ave.!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that your Mother is so healthy, at the age of 92! I believe that she came home with you, and is spending time at your home now... If I remember what you said before.
ReplyDeleteGentle hugs...
What a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteWhat a special blessing to have your Mother at 92. Glad that you enjoyed Chicago!

Christina my love...you simply lead a charmed life! What fun you have with this life! Your posts always make me smile...and you give me a chance to see things I would never otherwise see. When young we never had the money to travel..and now..husband just will not do it. My friend that I found on "facebook" goes on her own and has invited me. Perhaps I will join her!2:) Should I?
ReplyDeleteSweet husband needs me now..but when he is well and going full steam...I think I will take a few trips. My friend has been everywhere..China, Japan, the Phillipines, everywhere...such an adventurer. And..she is alone and is 72 years old.
Isn't that amazing?
I know how happy you must have been to visit your baby boys grave. What a special time.
ReplyDeleteI love that pink luggage. It's just too cute!
