Saturday is my time to show a triple post: Sightseeing, Pink and A Few of My Favorite Things. Beverly said we are not obligated to post pink today because it is 9/11 and we want to always remember that very sad day when we lost so many brave people.

We will never forget!! How can anyone forget something as big as this? It is very hard to grasp and until now, after 9 years, my heart still stops beating when I think about that morning I turned on the TV and heard the horrible news and saw the unbelievable sight. I hope you will all take a moment and pray for all of those who perished and for the families they left behind.
It is so hard to go on to another post after seeing the pictures above again, but that's exactly what the terrorists wants, to disrupt American lives and our freedom and I am not going to allow it. And so. I will go on.
I would like to show you the Sevres centerpiece that John and I bought last week when we bought the antique chair I showed you last weekend. Needless to see, it is both our favorite now. I placed it on a mirrored tray and because it is sitting on a stand, you can see the Sevres signature at the bottom in one of the pictures below. It's big, it's heavy and it has amazing details.

I am creating a tablescape with the centerpiece and I thought I would use another favorite, a pair of Sevres lidded urns. They have been sitting on top of our tall French provincial cabinet in the dining room and I think it is about time we see them closer and enjoy them.
So, without further ado, I am introducing our favorite Sevres urns below.

Yes And since it is 9-11, it is just right that I post a fort that used to defend our country and our harbors, Fort Pickens in Pensacola, FL. We went to visit John's dad last weekend and he always enjoyed it there, so wheelchair and all, we took him there.
For more info about Fort Pickens, please go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Pickens
Below are residences of the park rangers.
We had to pass by Pensacola Beach before getting to Fort Pickens. There we saw the cleaning crew and there we also smelled the horrible smell of dead fish.
Below are trees, mostly pine, that were damaged and flooded during Hurricane Ivan, about 6 years ago. They still have not recovered.
Lastly, I just want to show you my mom playing piano for the nursing home residents.
Dear Christine, those are amazing photos.
ReplyDeleteYou always have such lovely things.
Blessings,
Shelia ;)
Christine,
ReplyDeleteYour Serves is beautiful. Eagerly awaiting that table. I love the fort. We have been to visit places like and enjoy them a lot.

You are so right, Christine, how could we ever forget. That day was so surreal. I love that you chose to show a tour of Ft. Pickens today, very appropriate. It looks like a great place to visit. If we ever find the time to get to Florida again, I'm putting it on my list.
ReplyDeleteOh Christine, that Serves centerpiece is stunning! I love that it is raised, and putting on the mirror is brilliant! It looks like something that would be in a museum. What a wonderful piece to find! I think y'all are going to need to find one of those beautiful old homes in your area to move into soon. Your treasures look like they belong in one of those homes (I know, there are probably ghosts in all of them!)
ReplyDeleteGood pictures of your trip to the Fort. Your mother never ceases to amaze me - she still plays piano!
Wow! Those 9-11 pictures and your commentary just brought back such a flood of memories about watching that on t.v. on that morning! You are right - it is something we should never forget. Thank you so much for linking to Favorite Things Sat. Hope you are having a great weekend. laurie
Christine, This is a beautiful and inspiring post....
ReplyDeleteThe picture of your mom playing the piano is so sweet!
We will never forget, it was a horrible day.
ReplyDeleteYour centerpiece is beautiful. So ornate. That fort looks like it was a nice trip and that sand is awesome. Love the housing for the Rangers.
Truly...you are right...we can never forget...but what a blessing to be in a country that rallied together. God bless the firefighters, police, military and all those that served in so many ways and continue to serve.
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
I love your beautiful things and the wonderful photos you shared. We have been a few times to Fort Pickens too :o) How fun to think that some of the photos there were like the ones we took...to imagine that we walked around the same areas too :o)
And love the photo of your mom playing the piano.
Thank you dear friend for stopping by...you are my top commenter :o)
Christine, your new bowl is stunning and love the urns too. You have some really nice collections.
ReplyDeleteYour new Sevres piece is beautiful...I can't wait to see it in your tablescape! I enjoyed seeing your pictures from Fort. Pikens and Pensacola...the beach is beautiful!! Love the pictures of your mom, she looks SO young! What a sweetie. I would love to meet her.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you...
xoxo

Thank you for the tour of Ft. Pickens. It's an amazing place. The Sevres pieces are magnificent. I hope that we'll get to see them as the centerpiece for a tablescape. I'm so glad that you shared them with us. Cherry Kay
