I am still out of town visiting my daughter and her family in Florida so I will repost my Valentine mantel for Pink Sat at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ and Laurie's Valentine party at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/. I hope you don't mind.

Hi Everybody! The new year has just begun but doesn't it seem like it is going too fast? We have attended 2 parties in January and we have been to and back from Seattle and now it is almost Valentine's Day. And last night, we just got our Mardi Gras formal party invitation. Whoa.... slow down a bit, 2011!
Oh well, we might as well go with the flow. So, I am joining Beth's Valentine's mantel party at http://www.thestoriesofa2z.com/
And since I had to rearrange my mantel top for Beth's party, I am also linking with Susan's Met Mon at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/
And just so I won't have to do too much work especially because I will be in Florida when Laurie's party happens, I might as well link this same post for Laurie's Valentine party on Feb. 11 at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/
Isn't this button cute? It looks so vintage and I love the vintage look except on my face, lol.
I left the 2 gold cherub on pedestals there, after all, cupid is a cherub. But I added 2 little porcelain frames with a little boy and a little girl in each of them. Below is the boy. John and I just bought them yesterday in a basement sale downtown. The seller said they are old, belonged to her grandma who passed away in the 70's.
I placed my lovers figurine in a cloche and added a red bow, a red paper heart on top and a pink wooden heart at the base. I moved the "LOVE" lettering with a cherub, which I have had for a while, from the book shelf and added the cute porcelain heart with roses that I won from Candy's give away.
Here is the little girl in the porcelain frame.

I wasn't sure if this is a candle holder because the holes of the holders are small and I cannot find a candle to fit in them so I clipped some holly berries from our bushes outside and stuck those instead.
Do you like my Valentine rag doll? I brought her home from Seattle. John and I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel downtown and it was conveniently located and in a walking distance to several stores, including the Pike Market. I got this doll from Ross on a Tuesday to take advantage of the senior dicount, lol. She was $5.99 less discount.
Thanks for coming and thanks to our gracious hostesses for once again hosting these wonderful blogland parties.
Love the vintage feel - very romantic!
ReplyDeleteYour valentine mantel is just perfect Christine!
ReplyDeleteI love it and it really is charming as can be!
Boy have you been a traveling gal!
Seattle is such a neat city, I was there a very long time ago but I loved it!
Hugs,
Cindy
Very pretty...I love the cherubs and the little rag doll is so sweet. You did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteHope you had fun in Seattle. We were there a few years ago and I loved it {not the rain}. Pike Market was fun! Have a good time in Florida.
XO,
Jane
That is so lovely and perfect for Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteChristine you have the greatest accessories to work with and your cherubs are just precious. Love your mantel vignette and the stool is so pretty also. Beautiful vignette. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteChristine, where do you get your energy? I'm sitting here looking at my boxes of valentine things and you already have a mantel after just returning from a trip. Looks like you are ready for Valentine's Day! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteI HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT VALENTINE DECOR YET,YOU ARE ALWAYS AHEAD OF ME. LOVE THE RAG DOLL-AND THE LITTLE FRAMED CHILDREN ARE SO DIFFERENT
ReplyDeleteAwww so sweet Christine! Those two little candleholders are precious! They look like 1960's to me. And of course I love the two little angel boys! The rag doll is a cutie too! Yay Seattle! *winks* Vanna
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the holly berries instead of candles, it looks perfect! You're very creative and full of energy. I hardly put any valentine stuff except from red roses. Have fun in Florida.
ReplyDeleteAbout my last post, it was written in swedish since I am trying to sell our dining furnitures from our former house (we don't have enough space to our new home).
Looks like you are all decked out for the holiday, Christine!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I'm traveling over the next few days, and I joined in several memes and up at the crack of dawn trying to blog. LOL! Then there's a lunch on Tuesday, PigFest on Friday, and a birthday party on Saturday. I've just gotten out from being trapped in recovery mode for a month, and it seems like things have taken off like a rocket ship!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Very pretty Valentine mantel Christine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder about Laurie's. I was just wondering this morning, the date of her party and here it is in your post.
You are READY for Valentine's Day!!! Love is in the air! :-) Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love your new/old boy and girl frames. All you need now is a nice fire and voila'....romance :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Monday!
I followed you back from the follower swap. My suggestion on the glazing, check out the links I have in my post about my first glaze and read what those ladies have to say about it. If you decide to go with that Ralph Lauren faux glaze, see if they will tint it for you. If not I read somewhere what color of sample paint to get if you don't want to mix it with craft paint, I just have to see where I read it =)
ReplyDeleteI'm following you, found you on the follower swap. I love your mantle. I'd love to change mine for the different seasons but hubsters likes what is up there now.
ReplyDeleteSweet Blessings to you today!
ReplyDeleteVery Sweet Valentine decorations!
Your post puts me in the mood to decorate.

Christine, your pieces are just adorable! You are so ready for V-day! I'm barely keeping up but I'll at least be there for Laurie's party. Beautiful mantle and room!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks beautiful. Love the doll you recently bought. I seldom decorate for Valentines day, I don't know why other then I get so overwhelmed with Christmas that I like the quiet time.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! I finally put out a little red for Valentine's Day. I've been complaining that I'm bored this winter...sounds as if you are anything but!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine...I love your mantel. I have the same banner which goes so nice with a dark mantel. Yours looks so cute! Beautiful cups in your first post here, they are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet and pretty! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria
Hope you don't mind, I gave you an award.

Thank you for dropping by and leaving such a nice comment for me. I appreciate it a lot! I think that your lovely new mantle pair of figures are vases and not candleholders. I bought a similar pair one time while visiting in Arkansas and the dealer told me that they were vases or I would not have known. The opening to mine was square and you do not see many square candles....LOL....
ReplyDeleteYour new porcelain framed boy and girl are really quite a lovely find. try candles for the german pyramids. they might fit. or even the tall skinny ones, which are harder to find. I love your collection on the mantel. so sweet and it certainly says Valentine's. Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteC/X this is all so preety and sweet..I don't do the VD things as I feel like I just got the Christmas stuff put away ha ha!! And what do you mean your out of town..Girl I bet your luggage has mileage on it...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Valentine mantle, Christine! I also love those two chairs in the photo, in front of your fireplace. The carving on the arms and legs is lovely. I hope that you are having a nice visit with your family and that you have a very Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria

ReplyDeleteHave the sweetest of Pink Saturdays!
Hi Christine! Your mantel is very lovely. A very Happy Valentine's day to you. Loved the post above with your sweet little ones!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very pretty, Christine! I am sure J has a wonderful Valentine's Day planned for you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Christine Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous share. I just love coming to see what you have created each week.
Your mantel just screams LOVE. I really love the little couple under your cloche, that are sitting on a bench. How precious that is. Your cupids are beautiful too, as I love them in gold. They look so old and pretty in gold I believe and it makes them versatile, we can use them in so many settings.
Wow now you are going to be off to Mardi Gras? I can't wait to see what that celebration will be like. So much fun touring with you sweet friend.
Happy Valentine's Day and have a glorious Pink Saturday. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
Lovely mantel pictures. I live in Florida, enjoy your stay in our state. Hey did you bring us all this cold (for us) weather? No problem, I am a transplanted Yankee and love the cold for awhile anyway, lol Happy Pink Saturday.
