Summer and Winter

Last week, we had 2 days with the temperature up in the 70's so it made me dream of summer. By the time this is published, I would already be in Florida spending some time with my grandchildren. The youngest one will turn a year old on Saturday.

So, I thought of posting these pictures that were taken when they came for a visit last summer.

I would like to link with The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sundays at http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com/
Susan's Metamorphosis Monday at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/

Kim's Better to Boring party at http://savvysouthernstyle.blogspot.com/
It looks like Kim just changed the meme to Wow Us Wednesdays. I will change the button next week. I am a little behind in the news. Sorry!

Susan's Outdoor Wednesday at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/

And last but not least, Watery Wednesday at http://waterywednesday.blogspot.com/

B really enjoyed playing on the wet deck.

The baby was too small to join B but this summer, I think he will be able to.

There's their mama just relaxing on the sun ledge.

Oh how I have missed these boys and I am just so happy to be with them again even just for a week. And I miss swimming in the pool too.

I hope you enjoyed those photos because we have to go back to reality now. This is how it looked in the backyard the day before I flew to Florida. All the trees were full of ice.

Even the moving water on the slide froze.

The crepe myrtle branches were wrapped in ice.

The pine leaves were sparkling.

The holly berries were frozen.

The pool diving board had icicles around it.

There were ice on the evergreens. Aren't the leaves pretty? They were shaped like snowflakes.

A table clothed in ice.

I took these out of the garage last week because the temperature went up to the 70's and I forgot to bring them back in when it got cold. I hope they'll still be alright. They're back in the garage now.

The gingkho was pretty with the icicles.

I hope you enjoyed my summer and winter post. It makes me long for spring. Thank you so much for visiting and thank you ever so much to our hostesses. I hope you get a chance to visit them all because they offer lots of beauty and inspiration.

  8. What a neat comparison. I can't believe how hard you were hit with the ice storm. Maybe all of the coldness is to make us look back upon those fond days. Thanks for bringing your wonderful home to Seasonal Sundays.

  27. Oh WOW!! I loved the summer pictures. I can't believe you have such wonderful things in your own backyard! When you started posting the frozen pictures, I just scrolled and stared. You caught such unbelievable beauty! I think the one where the leaves were frozen to look like snowflakes was my very favorite, but it's hard to say since there was just one beautiful picture after another.

And all just days after "teaser" summer weather too. This is the most odd duck year, isn't it?

  28. What a contrast! The boys are super cute. The baby must have changed so much since the summer pics were taken. I hope that you have a wonderful trip.
