Garden Mosaic, Spring 2011

My niece with her 3 children, stopped by from Chicago on their way to Florida, for the kids' spring break, and dropped off my mom here. A lot of people say my niece Stephanie, looks more like me than my own daughters do, but you be the judge. People actually call her "Christine" sometimes by mistake.

It must have been a big difference on how the surroundings looked between Chicago and here that she really enjoyed taking pictures of our yard.

It was really strange but in our 4 years of living here, this is the first time I saw bluebirds in the backyard. I usually see a lot of cardinals, mockingbirds and blue jays but never bluebirds, until now. But they are welcome here. In fact, I just refilled all my bird feeders. I hope they eat whatever I put out there.

  23. So lovely! I bet they felt like they were in paradise after Chicago's weather! Love the shot of the bluebird, so beautiful. Wish we had them here, but I don't think I've ever seen one. We have lots of jays and mockingbirds. But I have trouble keeping the squirrels out of the bird feeders! Kat

  25. Hi Christine, I love your family photo that you used for a header. Life for me is all about family and friends.

Your mosaic is lovely and I do think your niece resembles you as much as I can tell. All three children are very nice looking. I especially loved the bluebirds too. We do not see them here much either. Nice blue to share. I love birds.

    Happy blue Monday.

  33. Christine, Your yard looks gorgeous! I so loved seeing the bluebirds. We had two in our yard last summer, checking out a birdhouse. Alas, they moved elsewhere. After that, a friend built me a birdhouse and it's up and ready now. One problem, the sparrows have moved in. I must clean out their nest before there are babies. I couldn't do it then...
