It's "Sightseeing/Events/Shopping, Pink and a Few of my Favorite Things Saturday so c'mon and join the fun. For a starter, I went around and took pictures of pink flowers in the backyard. Actually AJ, my granddaughter who is here from Florida spending her spring break with us, was the one who took the flowers in the mosaic below. Didn't she do a good job?
I took the next pictures. Most of them are hanging planters surrounding the gazebo and the back porch. The bouganville is hanging in the secret garden. Some of them are in various flower beds that just started to come out from being dormant in the winter. A few of them, I just planted.
The second photo in the mosaic below, an orange trumpet vine, although is not really pink, does have some pinkish tinge to it. Anyway, I just had to show you the many buds. In a few days, I will have so many blooms.
I did a lot of work in the secret garden, cleaning out the leaves but there is still so much to do. We got an estimate of over $1300 for someone else to do it which we thought was too much. I think I can do it myself gradually. It will be a good exercise anyway, which I need very badly.
Now, let me share the items that I purchased recently. The white quilt below, a twin size, I got for $20 from one of the other vendors in the store. It includes a matching sham. Too bad there was only one because I would have loved to get another one so I can use them on our twin beds in the guest room for the kids. I really like all the details and the borders. Sorry for the dark pictures but it is hard to see the details when I use a flash.
Michael aka "Gollum" of http://www.designsbygollum.blogspot.com/, was so kind to give me a $50 Amazon gift certificate. Thanks again, Michael! And this was before I won her Kitchen Aid mixer giveaway. Wasn't I lucky? I bought a couple of Tea books plus the pewter bugs below. I was getting tired of the wind in the back porch blowing the tablecloth out of place so I think the weight that these bugs will keep it in place.
More from the other vendors in the store: a gold cherub box for $4.00
a fairy box for $2
a bird nest tea light candle holder trio for $2

I have shown you what John gave me for Valentine's Day in a past post, but I did not show what I gave him. Well, in case you are interested to know, it is this set of pewter coins with the head of a US president. There are 50 of them showing 50 past presidents.
I placed them in a little onyx compote under a small bookcase.
I know I bought more stuff but I cannot remember, lol. Anyway, maybe I will remember someday and then I'll post them.
Ok now, I should have uploaded pictures of the antebellum home tour that AJ and I just went to but I already uploaded photos of this concert so I'll stick with them. I think they are pretty cool anyway.
It was last January when we saw this concert. The Whiffenpoofs is an acappella singing group of 14 seniors from Yale University. They come to Natchez every year to perform. Have you ever seen them perform? You should if you ever get a chance.
I love that hat! LOL!
It was a fun concert, something different from what we normally watch but we really enjoyed it.
After the show, we got to mingle with the performers and had champagne and hors d'oeuvres with them.
And I had to ask if he is a Filipino because he looked like one and he sure is! I was so happy to see someone from my country. There aren't a lot of us in this part of MS, but then again, he wasn't from here but from California.
I uploaded 2 videos if you want to hear a sample of their acapella music, below the meme banners. Please feel free to play them. They are very short.

Fun pics as always Christine! Lovin' the beautiful flowers in your yard, just a few things blooming here in Philly! AJ did a great job with the camera:@)
ReplyDeleteI have seen the Whiffenpoofs perform on television they are so good and so much fun to watch! I love that white bedspread. I just ordered a couple of white pieces for our bed for summer. This is the time of year when we can really see a difference in our "stage" of spring. We are just starting to see shoots of green of the tulips coming through.
ReplyDeletePretty flowers and AJ did an excellent job of taking that picture, love the twin bed cover and that show looks like fun. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful flowers, and AJ did a great job taking the pictures.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
It looks like you have had a busy week with AJ there {and a lot of fun!}. It was so nice to see everything you have blooming! It IS a big job to clean your yard in the spring and I imagine yours to be a very big deal since it is so large. Our lawn service does ours in the spring and fall but we are not that big.
ReplyDeleteLove all your shopping goodies...I need a trip to TJ MaXX!! The quilt is beautiful...I can't wait to see where you put it! And the coins you gave John are beautiful. Al is a coin collector and has many, many nice ones.
I'm so glad you had fun at the concert. It looked like a good time and how fun to mingle with the performers!!
We have had several nice days in a row and now the temps are dropping again. We may go to the lake, not sure yet. I hope all of you have a great weekend! :-)

Janie
