I just got some new to me antique transferware salad plates from Ebay and they became my inspiration in setting this table. There were 2 sets of 8 being auctioned and I got all of them, yep all 16 of them but I am only using 6 here.

The salad plates are black and white with some gold. Do you see how the borders are a little swirly? I love that about them.
They are Limoges made in France.
I did not use any tablecloth, instead, I used 2 table runners and placed them horizontally in the center of the table.
I used a pastry serving pedestal tray placed on top of a silver plated mirrored Baroque plateau for my centerpiece. I then cut some azaleas and placed them on the plateau.
I also went to the driveway and cut some white flowers from our neighbor's bushes. I don't know what they are called. Well, actually our neighbor does not live there and she just lost a tenant so nobody lives there right now. It's not stealing if I cut the portion that is in our yard, right?
I think the white flowers are really pretty, especially because I did not grow them, lol.
See the tall bushes lining the driveway? That's where I cut them from. It's har to see but in front of them is a row of holly berries where I cut my berries from, to decorate my tables during the Christmas holiday. They are still full of red berries and also a lot of green new ones just popped out. I will have plenty to use for next Christmas again.
And look at our Gingkho biloba trees. They have leaves now and I just love their shape. I have not researched it yet but does anybody know if I can use these leaves to make tea?

Black and white toile plate chargers.
My dinner plates are Princess House "Pavillion".
The salad plates have 4 different sceneries on them.
I bought this silver dome from the Seattle antique shop when Vanna of Delusions of Grandeur and I went antiquiing. It is signed but I cannot read it.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks to our hostesses for throwing these fun events!

ReplyDeleteVery elegant Christine,,, I truly enjoyed looking at all your lovely things!
ReplyDeleteLove the new plates Ms. Christine! When you said it's not sealing if you cut the portion that's in my yard...that reminds me of the scene in Steel Magnolias when Ms. Ouiser says to Drum
ReplyDeleteMs. Ouiser-"Did you get those magnolia's out of my tree?"
Durm-"the judge has not decided who's tree that is"
Ms. Ouiser-"it is MY tree"
Love it! I say the flowers are just too pretty to not have someone enjoy them so cut away! :)

ReplyDeleteChristine, this is a table fit for royalty (and so is your elegant dining room.) It is always so much fun to see what you put together. ( I have really loved peeking into your storage places, now as I look at your tables, I envision where you might have pulled them from.) Everything is so regal. Where did you get the gorgeous chargers? they are so lovely too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
So very pretty - You did a great job setting that table.
ReplyDeleteMs. C. I think this is your most beautiful table yet. I love your new plates. And don't worry, I get flowers out of my neighbors yards all the time. It will be our secret. The white flowers look like some kind of flowering tree. I think they really added to your look. I love your home,I can see it is a very special place and full of love. Richard at My Old Historic House
ReplyDeleteChristine, you have one of the most elegant homes in blog land. Unreal.

I have NEVER seen a Gingkho blob tree. How cool it that? I have no idea if you can make tea with those leaves.. but why not? They obviously come from a tree right?
Loved your "cupboard" too. Isn't Shelia so sweet? Did you know she was traveling here to Canada for my "summer breeze " get together in July? Yup she'll be here with a few other ladies you know.
Going to tweek my blog now. I love playing with it. So much fun compared to my other one ; )
Have a great day
Love Claudie
