Below is how it was when the damaged floor was pulled out and the floor guy started installing the new one. At first, we thought the family room floor was ok. We were just going to have it sanded and restained but after the area rugs were pulled out, we found out that it was also damaged by the water. I called the insurance company to report it and they agreed to pay to get it replaced.
Here is the new floor.
Behind the recliners and in front of the fireplace, I placed the antique rococo parlor set again. I moved the antique Persian area rug from the foyer to use it there. We used to have a bigger rug here but John moved it to the home office.
I like to have tea here especially when there is fire going in the fireplace. It is so cozy.
Do you see the 2 round occasional tables with a glassy animal print top on pedestals? They were in the packages that came while I was in Florida. I was going to sell them in my booth but John wants to keep them.
The last thing I had to do here was put some dishes into the cabinet. And it took me a while to decide which ones I should put in there. I thought I would rotate some of them, but which one? Having so many made it hard to decide.
And there it is, all filled up.
I decided to keep my flow blue collection and moved the Homer Laughlin Eggshell "Romantic" from the dining room to the top shelf.
The only thing new inside the cabinet is the cobalt blue tureen with a courting couple on a tray seen on the left side of the shelf below. I got it on Ebay.
Two rooms down and I am presently working on the third one, the dining room. It is taking me longer because there are 5 cabinets to fill there.
Thank you for stopping by.

Yay! I am glad you can comment again, Janie. We have always had wood floors except in the bedrooms. Now, ma's bedroom has been replaced with hardwood floor too. I like wood, looks a lot cleaner....Christine
DeleteLooks good, Christine. I have always had wood floors through out, it is the most common flooring here because most homes have full basements. it is time to have the kitchen area sanded and poly'd, but I dread it, as it creates a mess. Even though they say dustless, it is NOT
ReplyDeleteI don't envy all the work you are doing!

Oh, Christine! Did you flood? I've been away for a bit. The floors are lovely and the blue flow is wonderful. What a lot of work you did to restore the room.
ReplyDeleteYes, we had a flood, actually my mom's bathroom overflowed and she did not tell us. We only found out when DH felt wetness on the hall floor. The water already seeped through the walls and floors by then...Christine
DeleteWhoa! VEry nice house!
