I love birds and when Kathleen announced her bird tablescape party, I got excited. The weather has been so nice outside so I decided to set the gazebo table.
The blooming orange trumpets added to the color of the area, especially against the green background. Before I left for FL, the trees had no leaves, 3 weeks later, I came back and it was all green outside with so many flowers blooming. What a great welcome!
I just cut out some flowers, placed them in a vase with water and I had my centerpiece. But of course, the table attracted the birds so they joined in.
I started with a lace tablecloth that I bought from a resale shop, in another booth where I used to have my store. I think I paid $3 for it.
I added my wood chargers, green linen placemats and then my square 222 Fifth "Adelaide" green and white plates. I bought these from TJ Maxx in Baton Rouge maybe a year or 2 ago and I like them very much but I do not know why I never used them until now. See the birds on them?
I debated whether or not, I should use my square ceramic white plate chargers since the plates are square, but you can see which one won.
Dragon fly tealight holders also made it on the table.
I should have lit my candelier but I was lazy to climb up on the chair, lol.
So, I will just show it to you.
More birds on pedestals. I had a third one here but I dropped it and it broke, but I was able to fix it later. See the iron dragon fly tealight holder and a butterfly votive holder too?
A pierced tealight candle holder and white birds napkin rings, dark bamboo handled flatware and green goblets.
The bird is looking down into the secret garden, admiring the yellow irises blooms.

Lastly, I want to show this to you to get your opinions. See the bridge? I would love to add a pond underneath but I am afraid to attract water moccasins and mosquitoes. Will I if there is a pond? I welcome any ideas or opinions on this.
And while I was setting the table, our Northern mockingbird was laying eggs.

I love this, Christine! I love the plates in the place setting in particular. The way you put it among the flowers out in the gazebo like that is beautiful, and the lace linen under it all is unexpected and really lovely.

Christine...this is absolutely gorgeous! This could be at an outdoor restaurant on a tropical island! The flowers on your gazebo are just lovely and everything in your yard looks so fresh! You set a beautiful table and I know it wasn't easy to bring all that down from your house! I love it all. I hope you and John were able to share a meal here!

ReplyDeleteAbout the pond...I say do it. If it makes you happy, then do it! There are probably some good websites that can give you the low down on maintenance tips etc....

The gazebo looks just beautiful with the blooms all over it. I love those dishes...I even have them or some very similar in blue. It looks like the perfect day for outdoor dining.
ReplyDeleteEverything bloomed while we were in Florida last week...at least some things did and the grass got very green and thick. Then yesterday we got a ton of rain and now it is freezing (37 degrees today). So, it STILL isn't spring!

Christine, I'd check with a pond/landscape guy in town and find out about the snakes. Mosquitoes aren't in running water so they might not be a problem. Now to the gorgeous table.. ReplyDeleteMay I say that this is one of the most beautiful and serene outdoor tablescapes ever? The trumpet flowers draping over the gazebo...so graceful! That in itself makes the whole look just come alive! When you get down to the fabulous plates and all the other fine decorative accoutrements, it becomes very clear that you put a lot of joy and creativity into this table! Now I want a gazebo more than ever!!! Please have a good talk with my husband and let him know how important it is that I get one! ;-)
Truly unique and beautiful. Those plates? Fabulous. I don't know about water under the bridge. It could attract mosquitoes, I guess. However, there are many chemicals you could probably use to deter them. I'd say go for it. Susan

I love those dishes! Your garden is looking fabulous. I have a pond and I keep mosquito dunks in it and my birdbaths-no mosquitoes! They are small donut shape disks, not harmful to birds or animals-you can buy them at any garden center or even Wal Mart. So far haven't seen any snakes!.

I love this outdoor setting. It's very pretty and I especially love your new dishes. I'm not sure about the water moccasins but the mosquitoes could be controlled. ReplyDeleteThe outdoor garden setting is the perfect place for a spring tablescape. The green and white plates with the birds are a pretty accent to the orange trumpet vine blooming on the Gazebo. I know you love the peaceful place with all the flowers blooming this time of year. The bird and butterfly votives are a great addition to the table.

ReplyDeleteWouldn't a pond be fun? With some concrete blocks on their sides in the bottom for the koi to hide from herons? I don't know about moccasins -- is your area prone to them? The fish eat the mosquitos.
