My friend, Noemie, quit her job and she started on Thursday, calling me so early to go to the thrift stores and resale shops around town. On Saturday, we went rummaging and John even joined us.
I really like this wood carved Madonna and Child. It's quite big, around 22 inches tall and I got the price down to $20. I plan to take it to our FL home.
Ocean themed placemats, $3.00 for a set of 6. Now, I am excited to do a beach themed tablescape by the pool, just so I can use them.
I found this Thompson Pottery birdhouse set at the Thrift store, 8 bowls and 8 mugs and 1 creamer, all for $20.
The reason I bought them is because I already own a teapot, 4 mugs, salad and dessert plates with the same pattern shown below. Now I will have to look for a sugar server.
But my favorite is this complete service for 8, Taylor, Smith and Taylor Versatile 1950's (hey! that's birth year, lol!) set. I just love that turquoise color and the best thing about this is the price, $20 for all of them. There are 8 tea cups too, 2 are still in the dishwasher.
Ooooh! I am so in love with the teacups. Just look at that shine and color! And they are trimmed in platinum. It says at the back that they are oven proof too. They are so similar to my Homer Laughlin eggshell set, also in that color, which I paid a lot more.
The farmer figurine set were $4/set. I think they will be pretty displayed inside a cloche.
The oriental little bowl set of 6 were $5 and the olive oil dipping set of 4 were $2.
2007 was the year we moved here and I got those numbers for $3. They are nice, heavy and solid. The frames were $3 each and I will use them in our FL home. Love the dark blue matting.
The set of 12 brass napkin rings in a case were $10 and the hammered silver plated napkin rings were also $10 for all 7.
The vases with pink roses were $1 each, the driftwood and small pitcher were 25 cents each.
And this cute whimsical litle holder for a cell phone while you are charging it was also 25 cents. It has a hold on the base so you can pull the cable through.
The blue and white vase was $1, long driftwood and wood plaque under it were 25 cents each.
These various blue ceramics (4 small canisters, basket, 2 plates and a lidded sugar server) with bees were 25 cents each.
I think they are really cute. I plan to use the plates to hold candle.
The mini wood cart and terracota watering can were either a dime or a quarter each.
I don't golf but I could not resist the price on this set especially after trying the shoes on. They were my perfect size and very comfy. They're clean and hardly used and they are Nike's. I bought the whole set in a yard sale for $20 and that already includes the shoes, golf tees and balls. I might just start playing golf now that I have a set, lol.
I found this at the Thrift store and it has John's initial (at least I like to think that's a "J"), so I bought it for him for $5. I know he likes it because when I was preparing to take a picture, it was gone. He has taken it to the dresser.
Then I saw this silver plated jewelry box in the same thrift store for the same price and it just happened to have John's daughter's name initials so I bought it too.
Last but not least is the most expensive set that I bought. They had these pale yellow wine glasses tagged at $14.50 each but I negotiated and I got 8 of them for a total of $30. I really like the shape and the color.
Thanks for coming. I value your visits and appreciate your comments.
Thank you so much to our gracious hostesses.

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Christine, My oh my, I cannot believe the things you bought and at such a good price. I would never be able to find such a haul here in England unless I went to an auction house.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to choose my favourite, but if I had to, I think I would have to say it was the teacups and saucers as they are so delicate and they are such a beautiful design.
Enjoy all your new found goodies.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Well, you hit the jackpot, Christine. What an amazing bunch of treasures at such bargain prices! OK, I just THOUGHT I was a bargain hunter. Although they look like they are in beautiful condition, I would probably have passed up the golf set, because I don't golf. I had to laugh out loud about you saying you might take up golf now that you bought the set! That stemware is gorgeous. laurie
ReplyDeleteWow, great bargains Christine! My favorites were the birdhouse dishes and the 1950's set. You'll have fun doing tablescapes with those.
