Tea Time with Granddaughter Reese on a Bee-utiful Morning

One morning last week, my daughter dropped off my granddaughter, Reese with me while she went jogging. It is very convenient because they only live next door. As soon as they stepped inside the door, I asked Reese what she wanted to do.  She said without   hesitation, "Tea Party!!" It was 72 degrees and sunny outside, so I said "Why not!.

 And so with Reese's help, we gathered our selected tea things on the back porch, I brewed some tea and then we were ready.

 With a nice and bright morning, I thought this bee set would be appropriate.

 And bunny is ready to welcome spring.

 I have some bee salad plates and for an impromptu tea party, I just could not find them. But of course, I located them in the garage all packed up nicely in a bin afterwards. But, I found this pretty springy plate. I think I won it from one of the blog giveaways. Sorry, but I cannot remember who but  I thank you, cause it is really pretty and I love it especially the edges.

 These bee cups and saucers were perfect. I was so lucky to find them on clearance at Homegoods on one of our travels, and boxed, a set of 2 for $3.99. Scored!!!

 I used this dainty tea linen with pretty embroideries for our table topper.

 Oreos (Reese's favorite), food for the gods and merengue for our sweets.

When Reese's 2 brothers came home from school and found out we had a tea party, they said "No fair, we had to miss the goodies", lol.

 Love this bee set!

Reese is enjoying her raspberry tea, cooled with a little ice.

When we first had a tea party, I taught Reese how to hold the teacup like a lady and she remembered. See how dainty her little fingers are!

 Lastly I just want to share a picture of my late blooming Christmas cactus. Yep! It is just blooming right now.

Top of Kitchen Cabinet Use and Soup Tureen Collection

If you follow my blog, you would know that John retired last year and we moved right next door to my youngest daughter and her family's home in Florida. We downsized quite a bit. I sold a lot of stuff but we are still left with so much. If you know me, I love my dining and kitchen stuff and I have a tough time letting most of it go. I especially love my soup tureens. I sold a few before we moved but still has a lot and I had to be creative as to how to store or display them.

 

This is our kitchen here in FL. It is probably only a quarter of the size of our kitchen in Natchez, MS. But look at the top of the kitchen cabinets!! There is space there and an idea sank in.

 I asked my son in law/neighbor, who is quite handy, to add plywood on top. I did not even have to buy the supplies because we had a queen size platform bed in the master BR that we replaced with a king size bed and the platform was made out of solid wood. He sawed it to the right size and used it. And there are the tureens, all displayed on top!

 And duck tureens! John loves ducks and I collected these for him, then I satisfy both of us, lol.

 I have more tureens left in Natchez, but no worry, cause I still have this cabinet on the other side and I can put them up there.

This is how they look like now. Those tureens are very bulky and very breakable and I am just so glad I found a place to store them.

French Onion Soup on Polish Pottery

Who says you can't have French food on Polish pottery? I think these bowls were perfect cause I could bake right in them.

 I love mixing and matching my Polish pottery. Their patterns and colors just mix so well.

The napkin ring are wooden and I bought them in Budapest so they are not Polish but Hungarian.

Polish pottery S & P shakers. The other one is also a Polish pottery, I use it for serving spicy vinegar. We were having crispy pork too and I like to eat it with vinegar.

I cut the yellow orchids from my plants on the pool deck and placed them in little PP vases.

Just a little casual dinner with with my daughter Tina and her hubby, Scott. They live next door. The 3 little ones eat on the kitchen bar.

We almost always serve rice on every meal.

 

For tea, I used Hungarian Village Pottery by Herend. I have a lot of Polish Pottery tea sets but somehow I cannot find any here. They must all still be in Natchez. Anyway, we plan to bring everything here next month, yes, another big and hopefully, final move. We have not sold our house yet but I know we will sell it sometime this year.

 

 

When we were touring Budapest, we saw a large replica of the teapot outside a china store. I did not buy mine from there or I would have had to hand carry the set. Instead, I found it on Ebay, so much cheaper and I did not have to hand carry it, lol.

Wm Guerin & Co by Limoges for Valentine's Table, 2016

I just arrived from Illinois the other night, from visiting my mom who was sick in the hospital with pneumonia and fluids on both lungs. She really progressed very slowly at first so John and I ended up staying there for a whole month. Thank God for retirement that we are able to do that. My mom's chest xray is normal now but she is still in rehab but should be able to go home pretty soon. Thank for those who prayed for her recovery.

 I just set the table in the kitchen 's breakfast nook for Valentine. I set it for 4 in case my daughter Tina and her hubby Scott from next door will join us.

 The plate chargers are enamel from Homegoods, bought sometime last year.

 I thought this Lladro dancing couple would make a romantic centerpiece and of course there has to be a heart so I added the ceramic heart that John gave me from a while back.

 I had a $30 Homegoods reward dollars so John and I swang back there and I bought the small wine glasses with Bohemian painting and design, plus a few other things to use up the rewards money.

 Beaded napkin rings from Pier One. They must be at least 9 years old.

 White birds for salt and pepper.

 I love this linen tablecloth. I love the mix of embroideries and lace. I bought it while antiquing with a blogger friend, Vanna in Seattle, a few years ago.

 Wanting to use red, I picked our casual red flatware bought from Kohl's a few years ago.

 The plates are made by Wm Guerin & Co, Limoges, France.

 For the tea, I decided to use Spode's Emma's Garland tea set but I stayed with Limoges teacup and saucer that matches the dinnerware set.
