My Little Dancers and Deer in the Backyard

Wordless Wednesday is hosted by Dixie at http://frenchlique.blogspot.com/. The theme for today is "dance". I hope you will join me in visiting Dixie's blogs and everyone on her list of participants and let's all enjoy their posts.

I know this is supposed to be wordless but can I give you an intro?

When my daughter Tina was 9 years old, she made it through the audition of over 2000 children to perform for the Superbowl XXV Half time show held in Tampa, FL. We went to the audition site at 5 PM and she did not get to dance for them until around 10 and then they told us to wait and finally at midnight they called her to take her measurements. We were so happy because to be measured for a costume, I guess meant that she made it. There were so many tearful kids and we felt so bad for them. Tina was one of the gold and white dancers and she was in a Hawaiian costume and she got to dance on stage with the New Kids on the Block. Whoohoo! Remember them? The show was produced by Disney and with so many kids, we were so amazed at how organized the rehearsals and the performance were. Disney sure is an expert when it comes to children.

The next pictures are of my granddaughter AJ on her dance recital. Ok, I'll shut up now. LOL!

Thank you Dixie, for giving us an opportunity to play wordless today.

It's Outdoor Wednesday too, hosted by Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Join me in visiting her outdoor site and everybody else's on the list.

Last year, we invited 5 kids (my granddaughter, 3 of her first cousins who brought along a friend) to spend 2 weeks of the summer with us. They sure kept us hopping! I was diappointed that we did not get any visit from the deer during their stay. AJ stayed for the whole month and the morning after her cousins left, I looked out and guess what! There were 5 deer in the backyard. I got AJ up so fast and we were crawling and hiding behind curtains so as not to scare the deer away. I was just happy that she got to see them.

Do you see his little antlers? Are they cute?
I could only capture 3 in the camera because the other 2 were scattered farther.

Thank you Susan, for allowing me to show the deer in our backyard.

  3. How I loved the days when my daughter danced--it was such fun. Now, deer dancing in my yard is not always a welcome sight--especially if they are nibbling on young plants! They are beautiful animals, however!

    Happy WW! Dana

  5. I always see evidence of where the deer have traveled through my yard, but I think they visit in the wee hours. I actually only laid eyes on a deer once, but they eat lots of my plants.

  6. Wow, that's a pretty amazing accomplishment for your daughter to dance at the super bowl! Holy cow, that must have been so exciting for all of you!
And OMG, AJ is such a cute little princess. She looks a lot like you, I think.

I want deer in my yard! I've got woods behind me but have never had a deer come this close. I see them often on the golf course when I'm driving by, but dammit, I want them in my yard!

  11. What special pictures you have! I'm sure the memories will be Treasured of those performances! I still remember all of my dance routines from when I was little. I should have put up a few of them. It never even crossed my mind. The funny thing is I absolutely loved and breathed to dance and my daughter has no desire to dance.

I love your deer pictures! We have lots and lots of deer running around here. In the fall they put on a show. They look like they are running a race against each other. I call it Deer Olympics! hehehe
    Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Your outdoor photos are really a treat for us...love the wild deer. My friends have a little acreage & purchased 4 fallow deer to roam their property...very sweet, but they eat all of their plants & foliage... I love to visit your blog... ;-) Bo

  32. I think that you must live in a wooded area to have such visitors. It would be so amazing to crouch down and watch deer in your own yard. How special. Your daughter was such a cutie in her dancing clothes!

  34. Dancing and deer sort of go together. When you see a deer leap into the air, that is dance and it is beautiful. Your GD is beautiful and talented to be a lucky chosen one. smile.
