The first thing I do when I get up is go to the home office, which adjoins our bedroom, and open the drapes. And that was no different this morning. This is what I saw. I got so excited and I called John and grabbed my camera. He looked through the bedroom window while I took these pictures from the office. Four deer and they were all stationary and just stared at us. We had a storm last night, rained all night and we still have an overcast so I apologize for the fuzzy pictures. I am also taking all these through the window. I know they will run if they hear me open the sliding doors. I love our deer. We have been lucky because they never bother our flowers and plants and they just look so gentle.
Isn't she just the prettiest thing against the hot pink azaleas?
I also apologize for the weeds and the long grass. Our lawn guy comes to cut every other Wed. but did not show up yesterday because of the rain.
I think the weed flowers are pretty in the pictures anyway! They make the scenery look more natural. LOL!

We have a herd of 14 that lives back behind our property. They are beautiful to look at but they just about destroyed our schrubs this winter. I will post about it later. I love watching them. So exciting isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHey Girlfriend...
ReplyDeleteJust seen that you posted and came right over...Girl, what a lovely sight!!! There's just something magical about the sweet dear!!! Thank you so much for sharing them with us!
Girl, we are fixin' to get a blizzard here...we have blizzard storm warnings out with lots of snow and wind expected. Russell even stayed home from work today so he wouldn't get stuck in town! I'm hoping that we don't lose our electricity...of course, we would be okay if we did but I'm just getting to old for all of that! Hehe!!! Say a prayer for us, okay!
Okay, I'm going to go and check out your tablescape now!
Love ya honey,
Chari
How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky to have them visit you. My only backyard visitors are the birds and squirrels.
Lisa

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice think to wake up to Bambi, I'm glad you had your camera handy and shared with us, all we've had is an ugly old possum LOL
ReplyDeleteOh Christine, what a gorgeous sight to wake up to. They are so beautiful to see and to watch. They are so graceful. I love to see them. How nice to have them in your yard. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love deer! They are sooo pretty and peaceful!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I would love to have deer in my back yard.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots right up to our deck. It always makes up go to the window, too.
ReplyDeleteGREAT photos... they are sooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that they will eat everything you cherish, so your thrill may be short-lived.
ReplyDeleteJust getting caught up at cruising blogland - enjoyed your tablescape this week - so pretty! Also, isn't it fun to watch deer? We have a lot, probably too many, around here, and often have to stop the car to let them pass across the street. Have a great week. Sally
ReplyDeleteLove the deer. I used to have one watch me do the dishes when I lived on Lopez Island in the SanJuans.
ReplyDeleteWell that scene is absolutely breathtaking. How fortunate you are to be able to wake up to that!! We have had deer in our yard a few times, but I haven't been able to catch it on film yet. Christine, I have seen your beautiful picture many times on other blogger's posts, so it's so nice to finally get the chance to "meet" you. I still cannot believe you are a grandmother though - you look SO YOUNG!!!
ReplyDeleteKim
The over-cast day gave your pictures a "dream-like" quality.
ReplyDeleteThey are just the most adorable creatures. My mom and dad feed a small herd that consider their yard a backyard cafe. She asks at the local orchard for their cast-away apples to give them a treat.

They are so beautiful. I love your pictures of them! I couldn't sleep one night last week, and saw 7 of them in the field behind our house. Mamas and babies. It made the sleepless night worth it. Thanks for sharing with us.

Christine,
ReplyDeleteI almost had images of you running across your neighbors yard in your nightie in hot pursuit of those deer!
They are just gorgeous. What a morning!! :-)

c/x, I just watched a baby calf go by...thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGLORIOUS! I am so glad that you shared (and got to photograph) that!
ReplyDeleteI would squeal like a sissy if I woke up to that! You have NO idea how much I love the critters!
ReplyDeleteJustine :o )
I would be so excited too!! The only wildlife we get in our yard are 2 ducks that drop by our pool twice a year on their way out of town & coming back to town. I love when we travel to Utah as we usually see deer. Every once in while we will see deer here in southern California too. But not that often.
ReplyDeleteChristine, It's such a treat to see the deer, isn't it? I see a few once in awhile on my way to and from work. We also have a few wild turkeys, red fox and possum around here. (and I live in a somewhat urban area). ~ Robyn
ReplyDeletei love the deer too, i have about 20 that live with me. they devour everything, but i enjoy their company~ i think its great you loved seeing them so much too~
ReplyDeleteChristine, these pictures are so great! That one of the one by herself, in front of the flowers, looks like a magazine picture. Thanks for sharing these pictures. It was a wonderful sight to see. laurie
