Herb Planter Converted to Cacti Planter, Anniversary Presents

Metamorphosis Monday and Blue Monday are both hosted by 2 gracious bloggers namely Susan of http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ and Sally of http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ respectively. You will enjoy both of their blogs so be sure you visit them and then go check out their participants' posts too.
This is a herb planter (and it's blue!) I bought from TJ Maxx for $5.88. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the "before", when it was still empty.
For a long time, I could not find herbs that are small enough and short growing to fit in the openings. And even if I find small ones, I know that eventually they will grow too long. So, this cute planter sat in our garage for the whole summer.
Last week, my friend and I went to Home Depot in Monroe and then I spotted their cactus center and admired the many little cute cacti. All of a sudden, the lightbulb in my brain just lit up. Hey, I thought, these would be perfect for my herb planter. And so I bought a few and here is how the pot turned out after I planted. How do you like it?
Last week was John and my wedding anniversary. He surprised me with a box and when I opened it, I found a big white leather "Dooney and Burke" purse.
I opened the purse and saw the big blue dust bag and a small Coach wristlet. Hubby knows me very well and he knows I am crazy with purses and shoes and it does not matter how many I already have. I think half of my purses in the armoire have not been used yet.
Isn't this coach wristlet cute? It has pink, turquoise and blue butterflies.
Here is the big Dooney bag.

I love its supple soft leather.
Thanks to Susan and Sally for starting the week with lots of fun.
Thank you all for coming by!

  7. Christine, your blog looks so pretty, and I love the combination of photos in your header. Aren't you clever to use that pretty pot for the cactus. It looks great! I really think John should select his gifts better. Does he really want another purse that he has to hold while you shop? They are pretty though. laurie

  12. Wow, Christine, who doesn't love Coach and Dooney and Bourke. Your hubby is a keeper. I would have to direct my dh to the exact thing I want and he would buy it then and there. That is sweet but no element of surprise. Love your cactus in your pot. A great idea. We have five children too. All grown and having lots of grands for us to love. We are so lucky HUH?
