I can't believe the weekend is here again and we only have one more week to go before we have our Mississippi Magnolia Southern Belles get together. Because of that, I will just show you a little bit of Natchez again. I am hoping I can get more response as to who is coming. We would love to see all of you. It will be fun, I promise!
My desktop crashed and I have your emails there and I cannot retrieve them. The hard drive has to be replaced which means I lose everything that I did not back up. I am waiting for Lady Katherine to give the email addresses to me again so I can give you more info and directions. If possible, could you all email me in case Lady Katherine did not read my request yet?
I would like to congratulate Beverly for the Anniversary of Pink Saturday. May you have another strong year! I am so sorry I wasn't able to participate this time because I have been overwhelmed with work and projects.
I am also linking with Laurie at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/ for A Few of My Favorite Things.
My 2 favorite grandsons are coming for a visit with their mom this week arriving this Saturday and I am so excited. I have not seen them since I left Florida after staying with them when the baby was born.
Also, Janie of Blondie's Journal and her hubby are coming tomorrow to see us. They are staying with us for a day so we should have enough time to chat and laugh and eat and goof around. I want to show them as much as we can here, which is not much since this is a very small town. But I have to admit that it is quite charming. Could there be a better and more fun weekend than this? I am sooooo very excited!
Look at my 2 grandsons! They have such good dispositions.
Aren't they just the cutest and fun boys! I cannot wait to play with them, hug and kiss them and swim with them. This will be a very busy but fun week!
Last week, we attended a Kentucky Derby party, a fund raiser for the Humane Society. But most of all, I wanted to see the house where it was held, at the Glen Auburn antebellum house in downtown.
It is a private residence so I knew this would be a chance for me to see it since it is not open for tours. Do you like our hats? LOL!
Isn't this a charming porch? I could have taken a lot of pictures but nobody else was taking any and there were so many people so I was a bit embarrassed. I must have been the only blogger there, lol. I had to do it discreetly.
Our downtown is very unusual because it has a lot of antebellum mansions.
Love the antique bed and other furnishings!
I love this centerpiece, the laughing woman in a hat sitting on hat boxes. The desserts were so good!
Pretty fireplaces!

The food! How do you like the centerpiece?

On the way home, we saw the most amazing sunset. I told John to stop the car so I could take pictures by the Mississippi River.
We ate out on Tuesday night with my friend Nit who is moving to Alaska soon. I am sure gonna miss her. While eating, we came across another doctor who works with John in the hospital. He just started operating a Bed and Breakfast and it was a block away from the restaurant. He invited us to see it so we just left the car parked in front of the restaurant after dinner and walked to his house. It was a nice evening. He wanted us to especially see his newly purchased cannon. I thought it was pretty interesting.
If any of the MS bloggers attending the get together want to stay overnight, I highly recommend this place. It is newly renovated and it looks really nice. I already picked my favorite guest room, the one with the huge silk Persian rug. The owner is very pleasant and will keep you entertained for sure. Pretty much everything in the house is new. The name is Rising Sun.
I and my friend Nit were being silly posing inside the house by the marble statue.
Another B & B Inn we passed by going to the car from Glen Auburn. There are a lot of Bed and Breakfast inns here in Natchez. They really are quite charming.
Thanks once again for coming by. I hope you enjoyed our short tour.
Thanks Laurie, for allowing me to show my favorite babies!
You lead such an interesting life.
ReplyDeleteYour always on the go. Have a wonderful visit with your grandchildren. ((HUGS)) The B&B looks awesome, what fun that would be. Love the home where your party was held. Beautiful. Also that sunset is awesome. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteYour grandsons are adorable and how big the baby is now.
I can remember reading the posts that you wrote when he was born.
I saw on Jane's blog that she was visiting you this weekend, I know the two of you will have a great time together and look forward to reading about the visit on your blogs.
~Maggie~
Your grandchildren's pics are so cute. Love this old home and look at those fantastic centerpieces! Sorry to hear about your computer. I need to get a disc and back mine up before that happens to me. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think your Grands are just adorable, both of them have such sweet smiles.
ReplyDeleteI love Natchez it is such a beautiful little town. There are so many mansions there, because back in "the day" large farm owners or plantation owners would come into Natchez from all over LA and MS and build a home for there families to live in part of the year to be near the social world and close to the river, for traveling.
I am so glad that many of them are being repair and brought back to their former glory. It was so sad to see how some of them had run down back during the depression and after they original families had to sell or moved away.
Please remind me when our day is again. I'm afraid I deleted all my emails with out saving that one.
Molly
I wish my hubby enjoyed touring homes and going places like this. If it does not involve golf or water.........he don't do it.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a great post Christine! What an awesome party and the home is just gorgeous! I would love to visit your part of the country. I was in Mississippi once, Biloxi, many years ago and don't have a lot of memories. Your grandson's are adorable and have fun with Jane! Of course, you two will have a blast!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Oh Christine, I am so sorry Nit is moving. I know you two have become very close, and I know you will miss her on your shopping trips and around the pool. Your boys are soooo cute. You are going to have so much fun with them. What a great K.D. party. I loved both of the centerpieces. I love that picture of John at the gate - he looks like the Southern gentleman, welcoming his guests! Thank you for linking to Favorite Things. laurie
