Simplicity is Beauty

This looks a lot simpler than my other tablescapes.

It was a perfect time to take photos because the sun was setting. Do you see it out there?

Isn't the sky beautiful?

I used a dish set by Villeroy and Boch called Twist Alea. I combined the dinner plate (Verde), salad plates (limone) and dessert plates (caro). My stepdaughter has this set, I think in limone for one of her wedding patterns and I want to eventually give this to her to add to her set, but I want to use them first. I got a really good deal on Ebay.

I really like the combination of colors and the pattern is very contemporary I think, so I used a flatware set with simple lines also.

The plate chargers are a really faint green translucent glass.

Here is the salad plate.

And here is the dinner plate.

For a centerpiece, I just placed a peach on a tall stand, 2 tapered candles on crystal holders and a live olive plant in a ceramic lion pot.

Crystal water goblets and La Rochere wine glasses. They have similar shapes, don't they?

Isn't the olive plant pretty? I bought it on line from Sur La Table on clearance for $14 and it was already in this pretty ceramic pot with lions. I did not know they sold live plants there. I wonder if I can plant it outside. Does anybody know if they grow in Mississippi?

I love the lions on the pot.

The table topper is actually a bridge cover. I found it in an antique shop downtown and it included 3 matching napkins. I love the braided edging and the linen material.

Thank you so much for your visits and especially to you who takes the time to leave a comment. Special thanks to the following wonderful hostesses. I hope you all get to visit them too.

  16. I'm collecting a Spode pattern to give to my daughter-in-love...after I create a tablescape with it, too! LOL. She reads my blog, so I thought that would be a good way to let her know about it. The Villeroy & Boch pattern is perfect for your linen table topper...such an elegant piece. You may need to hide it when you give her the dishes! LOL. Cherry Kay

The V&B china is classic and the topper just right to go with it.
Noticed you got the "famous" blue light in some of the pix, very clever.

  25. You did a fantastic job! I'm a big Villeroy and Boch and Sur La Table fan too. I'd love to find out if that olive plant will grow in our region. Please let me know if you find out. I love olive oils. I grew up in northern California and use to tour the olive vineyards. I'd love to grow my own olive tree. Again, your tablescape is beautiful.

  29. I really love your tabletopper Christine, along with the napkins, it looks like such fine linen, the kind that's so hard to iron like a Phillipino tablecloth and napkins I have and used Father's Day. Come over and see where I keep some of my stash, not much though! LOL! Have a great day! Love, FABBY

  31. So pretty! There's so much here I like where should I start. Of course, the outside view is fabulous but I love your dishes too! I really love the whole stack. What a great combination! Your tablecloth is beautiful I love the edge on it and finally I really like your centerpiece too. I have a small vase very similar that I am always stumped about what to put in it. I love the simplicity of that. Thanks for sharing this and for the inspiration too!

  36. You know that while this may seem simple to you, it is one of my favorite tablescapes of yours. I guess I tend to be a "less is more" person and I can really see the details in your china and the backdrop of the pool and sky are just perfect. Love the idea of the single peach. This is a beautiful china pattern...I really love it all.

I love this! It is definitely simpler than your usual style but every bit as stunning and elegant as usual. I love the simplcity of the peach in the centerpiece in particular.
