When I went to Florida last November to look at the house that was for sale next to my daughter's house, my daughter and I also visited a consignment shop there. As we were leaving the store, I spotted an 11 piece Quimper ware by the store's window, which included this coffee or teapot, cups and saucers, 4 ashtrays (which I plan to use for a dipping dish), sugar and creamer and bowls.
I asked the sales person if she could give me a discount and she gave me a 10% off. I got them all for about $111. I thought that was a good buy so I bought them and hand carried them on my flight back home.
I already have a shorter Quimper teapot but I like this tall one.
I used blue bird napkin rings.
It's almost mardi gras time so I served a king cake.
I cut up some Carolina jessamines that are blooming outside and thought they'd be perfect in my little vases.

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty set and such a great price...think someone told me the tall pot is for coffee and the short one for tea, or maybe I dreamed it! I have one piece of Quimper, not an old one, either. Apparently it isn't very popular around here as that is the only piece I have seen.

This has to be the bargain of the year, Christine! All the lovely Frenchyness (is that a word?) is making me faint. I knew Sarah would be jealous when she saw these pieces. Just beautiful!

Christine, I was reading back through some of your older posts to try to catch up with your life, and I just wanted to offer that the peach linen is a roll cover. You put it down in a silver basket, and then you fold the corners in to keep your rolls hot. I have one that was my mother's, but that is what it is. You got some great buys.
