Saturdays are my sightseeing days so sit back and relax while I give you a tour, which I am hoping you will enjoy. Chandy from http://whatnowtablescapes.blogspot.com/ is taking us for a tour too so be sure you stop by her site too.
Today, I am taking you to the Italian Tuscan village of Pisa. Let's go to the Piazza dei Miracoli, Plaza of Miracles in english. Although this Leaning Tower of Pisa is the most popular in the plaza, there are other gorgeous building in that square. These buildings possess the magnificence of marble and ancient walls with wonderful architecture.
I can't say that I did not try to straighten up the tower but I was unsuccessful. LOL! It's heavy!
Isn't this a gorgeous statue of little children? This is right in front of the tower.
This is the Duomo, the medieval Cathedral. Constructed in 1063, it has both Muslim and Byzantine influences. It has a massive beautiful bronze entry door. I am sorry, I forgot to upload a picture. Inside, it has impressive granite Corinthian columns between the nave and the aisles.

Camposanto Monumentale.
This monumental cemetery, which is in the northern edge of the sqaure is probably the most beautiful cemetery in the world. I contains a huge collection of Roman sculptures and funeral receptacle for a corpes known as sarcophagi.
The next pictures were taken inside the camposanto.
Here's AJ busy taking pictures.

This Baptistery, a round Romanesque building which is the largest baptistry in Italy, was dedicated to St. John the Baptist. It stands opposite the west end of the Duomo.
Inside the baptistry is this marble pulpit, carved by Nicola Pisano in 1260.

Look at all the tourists shopping at the souvenir vendors.
Here's AJ asking me to buy a Pinocchio puppet for her friend. Did you know Pinocchio was born in Tuscany?
Thank you for joining my tour again. Make sure you visit Chandy and take her tour too. I promise you won't be disappointed. If anybody else wants to post pictures for Sightseeing Sat., please do so. Chandy and I need company. We are getting pretty lonely. LOL! Just let me know before Friday evening so I can post your link on my blog. I will be in Florida next week but I will stay in touch.
Of course, Saturday is also Pink Saturday. Check out our hostess, Beverly's pinks at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ and then see who else is flaunting their lovely pinks.
The reason I am going to Florida aside from visiting my children and grandchildren is becasue my stepdaughter is getting married. I was assigned to sew the ring bearer pillow for her. I just made it yesterday and here it is. It has bouganville pink, green and chocolate brown ribbons, which are the wedding colors. I brought the green embroidered trimming from Grand Cayman. I hope the bride will like it.
