Post Thanksgiving Luncheon, 2017

Thanksgiving is now behind us and we are now looking forward to Christmas. I hope you all had a nice one and you got to spend it with family.

John and I spent it with his side of the family and were stuffed with delicious food. My 3 kids all had a different plan for Thanksgiving Day so they all decided to come over the weekend after to celebrate with us with a luncheon on Sunday. By then, we were all turkeyed out so my son suggested for us not to prepare turkey anymore, instead, he would bring fish and will cook it. He also cooked noodles and my son in law grilled some pork, chicken and shrimp. My other daughter made a veggie casserole. I got to take a break from cooking which was so nice. I just set the table and prepared a tea party for the kids for dessert on the back porch.

Below was the kids' table using Better Homes and Garden's Christmas salad plates. They ate on the breakfast table.

And this was the adult's table. The guys did a good job cooking. Everything was so delicious!

I set the back porch table for the tea party and the grand girls couldn't wait to get started.
The weather was perfect! The grandkids were even able to go swimming eating.

We had coconut cream pie, raspberry pie, banana bread, cupcakes brought by Tina's friend, Greta and various cookies baked my daughter in law, Becky. For tea, we had Whittard of Chelsea's mango/promeganate and Turkish Apple Teas.

The boys were playing with neighbors so they invited them over for tea and dessert too. We had plenty to pass around.
Granddaughter Reese and Rea enjoyed the tea and sweets for sure!
We had a very nice luncheon and visit but sadly, they had to drive back home after, because the girls are going back to school tomorrow.

Thank you so much for visiting!

Thanksgiving Table, 2017

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope you all enjoy spending time with family and friends, while giving thanks for all the blessings bestowed upon all. I am happy to join Katherine's Give Thanks Tablescape Blog Tour. Hop on over there at https://katherinescorner.com/2017/11/22/give-thanks-tablescape-blog-tour to visit the other participants.
For this year, I thought I'd use the turkey salad plates that I bought a few years ago from Pottery Barn, along with Johnson Bros. "Thanksgiving" transferware dinner plates, which are part of their Historic America series. I bought them from an estate sale in Brookhaven, MS when we still lived in Natchez.

You can see my other Historic America series in "Massachusettes" pattern, that I used for my second Fall tablescape last month here.

The plate chargers are actually melamine. I usually prefer using ceramic, wood or glass chargers, which I do have a lot of, but I could not resist buying these from Zulily because they were so inexpensive and they actually look elegant. I think they were only around $5.99 for a set of 4 and I bought 2 sets.

 I love my wooden pilgrims.

Turkey S & P shakers. You will also see the wooden pumpkin napkin rings here from Williams Sonoma on clearance years ago.

 Spode Woodland flatware set
Spode Woodland salt and pepper shakers.

I bought the tablecloth from Rhoades, Greece many years ago while traveling with my daughter Tina and SIL Scott and granddaughter AJ. Tina was 5 months pregnant with her first child then, which means this is more than 10 years old.

Lots of turkey on this tablescape, including the pair of candlestick holders and a turkey tea light holder.

Thank you so much for stopping by. A special thanks to Katherine for inviting me to her "Give Thanks Blog Tour" at https://katherinescorner.com. I would also like to link with the following memes.

Tea Party on the Outdoor Deck

The kids came over for us to babysit cause their mom had a photography engagement. When they arrived, I asked if they wanted to have a tea party. Well, I always know the answer to that, lol.
This was an impromptu tea party so I just gathered whatever I could in a jiff and brought them out.

The weather in Florida is just getting pleasant so I decided to have the tea on the outdoor deck.
Of course my granddaughter Reese, is always the most excited when it comes to a tea party.

We even got John to join us.

We had English strawberry vanilla tea. It was the kids' choice. They all love it.

I gave the green cup for John to use and as I was pouring the tea, he stopped me and said there is something black inside the cup. I told him not to worry, that it's a bee and it's part of the design, lol.
 We had scottie shortbread,

 We also had choco wafers.
Reese is always so dainty with her fingers when drinking tea.

Do you see our pool enclosure in the background? Our big shade tree fell on it during Hurricane Irma and half of it came down. It was a total mess! We haven't been able to get it repaired because no screen can be found anywhere, not even on line, except for a few that are inflated in prices so John and I decided to wait.

Guess who else came to join us-the kids' outdoor cat, Bobby.

See the leaning palm tree in the background? Another damage from Irma but it is still alive and we just have to prop it up. We have been so busy cause right now, our bathroom ceiling and roof above it is being repaired. Yep, another hurricane damage.

Our fig tree was uprooted and had to be taken out too.
The tea pot is by 222 Fifth

Here is a better view of the damaged screen. You should have seen it after the hurricane with the huge fallen tree above it with black pool water underneath. I felt so much better after the clean up. Luckily, the tree did not fall on the house.
Thanks again for stopping by. I also appreciate all the hostesses and these parties.
