My 2 Favorite Guys and Natchez

I can't believe the weekend is here again and we only have one more week to go before we have our Mississippi Magnolia Southern Belles get together. Because of that, I will just show you a little bit of Natchez again. I am hoping I can get more response as to who is coming. We would love to see all of you. It will be fun, I promise!

My desktop crashed and I have your emails there and I cannot retrieve them. The hard drive has to be replaced which means I lose everything that I did not back up. I am waiting for Lady Katherine to give the email addresses to me again so I can give you more info and directions. If possible, could you all email me in case Lady Katherine did not read my request yet?

I would like to congratulate Beverly for the Anniversary of Pink Saturday. May you have another strong year! I am so sorry I wasn't able to participate this time because I have been overwhelmed with work and projects.

My 2 favorite grandsons are coming for a visit with their mom this week arriving this Saturday and I am so excited. I have not seen them since I left Florida after staying with them when the baby was born.

Also, Janie of Blondie's Journal and her hubby are coming tomorrow to see us. They are staying with us for a day so we should have enough time to chat and laugh and eat and goof around. I want to show them as much as we can here, which is not much since this is a very small town. But I have to admit that it is quite charming. Could there be a better and more fun weekend than this? I am sooooo very excited!

Aren't they just the cutest and fun boys! I cannot wait to play with them, hug and kiss them and swim with them. This will be a very busy but fun week!

Last week, we attended a Kentucky Derby party, a fund raiser for the Humane Society. But most of all, I wanted to see the house where it was held, at the Glen Auburn antebellum house in downtown.
It is a private residence so I knew this would be a chance for me to see it since it is not open for tours. Do you like our hats? LOL!

Isn't this a charming porch? I could have taken a lot of pictures but nobody else was taking any and there were so many people so I was a bit embarrassed. I must have been the only blogger there, lol. I had to do it discreetly.

Our downtown is very unusual because it has a lot of antebellum mansions.

I love this centerpiece, the laughing woman in a hat sitting on hat boxes. The desserts were so good!

On the way home, we saw the most amazing sunset. I told John to stop the car so I could take pictures by the Mississippi River.

We ate out on Tuesday night with my friend Nit who is moving to Alaska soon. I am sure gonna miss her. While eating, we came across another doctor who works with John in the hospital. He just started operating a Bed and Breakfast and it was a block away from the restaurant. He invited us to see it so we just left the car parked in front of the restaurant after dinner and walked to his house. It was a nice evening. He wanted us to especially see his newly purchased cannon. I thought it was pretty interesting.

If any of the MS bloggers attending the get together want to stay overnight, I highly recommend this place. It is newly renovated and it looks really nice. I already picked my favorite guest room, the one with the huge silk Persian rug. The owner is very pleasant and will keep you entertained for sure. Pretty much everything in the house is new. The name is Rising Sun.

Another B & B Inn we passed by going to the car from Glen Auburn. There are a lot of Bed and Breakfast inns here in Natchez. They really are quite charming.

Express Expresso For One

This is what I really call an express table setting for tea. As I have said in an earlier post, I have been extremely busy. I worked on our yard all day today. It was hot! When it becomes unbearable, I jump in the pool and cool off and then I work again. Well, John surprised me towards the night to call a restaurant downtown to see if they are open. He has been craving for seared tuna. I was not planning to post tonight because my desktop computer crashed yesterday and my laptop is just not as fast, so I do not enjoy posting from it as much. But the first comment notification I see on my email came from LadyKatherine who tells me I am featured on her blog. Thanks, Lady Katherine! I felt guilty, lol, and so I put together something so fast so I can join her for Tea Tuesday and I might as well join Marty for Tabletop Tuesday too. I am having an after dinner expresso in the family room.

Isn't that a cute expresso pot? It's only about 4 inches tall. And of course, I am using my little antique Bavarian Tirschenreuth expresso cup.

I just love the shape of this expresso cup.

I love the feet too!

How about a teapot napkin ring? The dotted multi colored napkin modernizes the table setting, I think.

Bridge for Gazebo and a Newly Discovered Dish Storage

I have been so busy this past week but this coming week will be even busier. I am so excited because Janie and Al are coming to visit. Then, my youngest daughter Tina and her 2 babies are coming to visit also.

I am going on high gear trying to finish my work in the garden. But as you probably all know, the work never really gets done. But, I am trying anyway.

Mary of http://megardengal.blogspot.com/ posted a bridge sometime last week that her mom in law wants and she was asking for help in locating one. I immediately searched on Ebay and found one listed. Actually the seller had 4 available and he had a "Make offer" option with free shipping. I immediately commented on Mary's blog and gave her the link. Since the seller had 4 available, I placed a bid on one. It was not accepted but the offer was countered. After 2 more counter offers, we agreed on a price of $285.00. I figured that it was reasonable enough since shipping was free and the thing is heavy, 75 lbs.

After it was delivered, I asked John to ask Mitch, the hospital electrician, who is very handy, and who works for us too whenever we need him, to come install it for us.

As you can see below, we had railroad ties placed there to cross to the gazebo before.

Thank God for Mitch cause John and I would never be able to put it together by ourselves. Do you see where Mitch is standing? That's another future project. I want to put rocks there and maybe have a pond built or create a rock garden, not sure yet. What do you think will look better?

I think it is perfect. It even matches the gazebo.





Look at the scroll bordering the top of the gazebo and around the windows. Don't they somewhat match the scrolls of the bridge (bottom pic of the mosaic)?


Another transformation that the gazebo went through recently was the addition of a candelier.

Here is my next redo,
I was folding the laundry last week in the laundry room and I noticed the closet that I use to store brooms and the vacuum cleaner.

I thought the size is perfect to store our plate chargers if I could only add some shelves.

I do not like to store plate chargers in china cabinets because they are big and heavy, so I have been keeping them inside the buffet table and under and on top of the kitchen island.

I thought I could move the brooms and vacuum cleaner to the garage since we have 2 closets there that do not have shelves. So came reliable Mitch again to measure and then we went to the hardware store to buy the wood.

And here it is now, just perfect for my plate chargers. Unfortunately, it did not hold all the chargers that I have so I still have to use the buffet table cabinet and under the kitchen island for additional storage, but I like how organized and accessible this is. And I do not have to keep any on top of the counter anymore, though I still have some in the garage, lol. Do you think I am a dishaholic?

Pensacola Beach and a New Candelier

Saturday is here and it's time to go sightseeing. It's also time to show a few of our favorite things, which I am linking with Laurie of http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/. Check out the others' favorites by visiting Laurie's blog.

I just got our candelier for the gazebo so it's my new favorite. Of course, the gazebo has always been a favorite in our garden too. Sorry I have not had a chance to light the candles yet. I have been too busy organizing and gardening lately.

Let's go to Pensacola Beach!
We go to Pensacola a lot to visit John's dad and his stepmother. It's about a 6 hr. drive from here. Sometimes, we don't even stay overnight but many times, we stay in a hotel along Pensacola Beach.

Doesn't the white sand look like snow?

John's dad used to fly his own plane but when he became legally blind, he was forced to sell it. But that does not take away his love for airplanes. On several occasions during our visit, he would ask us to take him to the Naval Air Museum. I am not sure how much he can see but he really enjoys going there.

This is their home.

There's dad and me! That's how I look without makeup and after getting up at 5 AM and driving for 6 hours, lol. He loves to go swimming too so we also take him to the beach.

The couple are enjoying the breeze.

Just as I said, we like to stay in a hotel along the beach and enjoy the Emerald Coast. The water is really green even if it looks blue in this picture.

We take my mom along when she is staying with us but she is afraid to walk on the sand. Can you spot her?

The beach is still beautiful even at dusk. It looks so serene.

Sorry, I could not show you much except for the beach because we mostly just visit with each other when we are there instead of sightseeing. I hope you enjoyed Pensacola Beach. It's a very nice beach with its white sand and emerald green water.
