Pink Urn, Mini Busts and Woodville

About 3 weeks ago, John said there is a festival going on in Woodville and we should go. I was very agreeable because I know there are lots of antique shops there. It's about a 45 min. drive away from here. So, for Sightseeing Saturday, I will share some pictures that I took from there with you. Sad to say, it was in this place where my mom had the accident so it has sad memories for me now. The accident did not happen during this trip but the following week, when I went back with our handy man and his truck, to pick up the 2 tables that I bought during this festival.

Here's my pink contribution. I bought it at the antique shop in Woodville to sell in the store. Actually, John spotted it. I bought other things too which I will show at the bottom of this post.

Don't you just love the shape and the colors?

And for my favorites are these 2 small busts that I bought from the other vendor at the store. I think I am becoming the #1 buyer, instead of the seller in our store, lol.

But aren't these busts so cute? They are small, maybe about 6 inches tall but I love the details. I was thinking of putting them inside a cloche one of these days. Right now, one of them is on my dresser in a tray holding my pink pearls (another pink contribution) and the other is on the bottom level of the pie table in front of our bed in the master bedroom. I moved this table from the living room after I bought the claw footed mahogany table that replaced it.



Now, on to our Woodville tour.

This town is located in between us and Baton Rouge.

As you can see, it's an old town with lots of antique shops and general stores.

Even the oak tree is ancient. The bench underneath was a perfect place for my mom to sit because it was shady so we just left her there while John and I roamed around.



There were lots of crafts. Neither John nor I is a hunter (lots of people here in town are though, even females) but I enjoyed this Deer and Wildlife Festival.

They had a wildlife cook off and we purchased 10 tickets for $5. It was a good deal because among us three (John, me and my mom), we did not even use up all the tickets and we were pretty stuffed.

I should have gone inside this museum but I was more busy eating and browsing through the shops and booths.

Can you tell this is an LSU town, even though it is part of Mississippi?

We sure got enough exercise from walking around.

Lots of food to try especially if you are brave enough to try venison, wild boar meat, duck, etc. I ate a lot of catfish casserole. and the last pic shows me handing a bowl to my mom. She liked it too.

I cringe whenever I see this photo below now. This is exactly the same place where my mom fell from the truck the following week. This is where we went to pick up the tables.

Here is the dining table that we bought. The store owner said it came from an antebellum house, probably old but not an antique. I just want to use it at the store so I can do tablescapes there. The size is perfect, not too big so I can put it in the middle of my shop and the rollers will be convenient for me to move it around. I also bought an end table which I failed to take a picture of.

Then, it was time to go home.

Earth Tones and Fall Colors

Hi all! Is it just me or do the days go fast for everyone? I can't believe it is tablescape time again.

Tablescape today is in the kitchen breakfast nook. I left most of my autumnal centerpiece there from last week, just rearranged a little bit.

I love the warm earth tone colors of fall and to make the table look even warmer, I skipped the table cloth to expose the wood of the table. Instead I used a runner with coordinating colors.

I bought these plates at Home Goods in a suburb of Chicago last August when I went to pick up my mom. The chargers are "Parsley" by Pinzon.

I used monogrammed tea towels for my napkin and John's.

Crystal goblets in different coordinating colors and clear wine stems with similar shape and pattern.

I bought these heavy metal candle holders from one of the other vendors in the store. First, I took home the tallest one for $3 about 3 weeks ago. Then the other day, I purchased the smallest one for $1 and the medium for $2. I think they look good all together.

I love the natural bone flatware. I only have a complete settings for 4 and I have been searching for another set but haven't been successfull so far.

New Table From an Antique Shop

John and I took my mom for a ride last Saturday. We went to an antique shop in Vicksburg and I saw this mahogany table that I fell in love with. Do you see how the claw feet matches my lion chair's claw feet? The table is really heavy. It is small but John and I had to help each other in carrying it inside the house. It is in perfect solid condition and I love that it has a drawer that I can use for additional storage and a shelf underneath that I can use for an additional display. It also has some griffin carvings on the upper part of the legs.

I moved the potted plant from outside. It has pretty yellow flowers all year round but I am afraid it will not survive the cold winter months.

You will see different vignettes here. I tried different ways but the vignette in the very first picture above stayed.
I tried putting my Sevres cherub compote but I think it is too bulky for the space. The small Viennese vase that we won at an antique auction stayed though and so did the vase with small roses. I love the colors of the roses.

A celeste blue Sevres casket is on the shelf underneath. It must be for jewelries but I only keep spare light bulbs that I use in the living room in it. I am too lazy to go to the garage to get a replacement bulb when one burns out, lol.

This vignette has been changed. I took out the tall vase too.

This occasional French table with inlaid wood stands against the wall in between the 2 windows.
It holds a lamp with a slag glass shade that we also won at an antique auction, a peacock tea set, a Villeroy & Boch crystal candelabra, a Raphael Madonna plate and a small amber fairy lamp.

My sister, Fe from Illinois, gave us this antique clock when we went to Chicago for John's medical convention a few years ago. Thanks, atsi! It is still one of our treasured possessions.

Tracy Porter's Peacock Tea set

I bought the tea pot and my daughter Tina and her hubby Scott, bought me the sugar and creamer servers one Christmas. I found the tray while shopping at TJ Maxx in Florida. Thank heavens it did not break in my suitcase. I really like all the details, the colors and the shape.

Everytime I go to the living room, I see and step on this so I thought I'd take a picture and show you too. How do you like my old new antique Persian rug? I really like the colors and design, found it on Ebay, so I bought it and placed it on the foyer.

I hope you like my new table and the vignettes I created above the 2 tables in the formal living room. This room is the least used room in our home. John and I occasionally would just sit there to admire the surrounding. Another time we go there is to look out the window when our alarm system suddenly screams" Driveway alert!" in the late evenings or in the middle of the night. Most of the time, it's just deer crossing our yard but we like to watch them.
