Up, Up and Away!

We just had a fun filled hectic weekend which I want to share with you on Outdoor Wednesday. OW is made possible by Susan of http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Make sure you visit her to see her awesome outdoor post and then check out all her other outdoor participants.
My stepdaughter, Kerri and her 3 little kids are here for a visit. It so happened that this past weekend was the annual Balloon Festival here and there were lots of activities going on so there were so many places for us to take them. Most of the activities took place by the Mississippi River. Here they are in the Louisiana side. There was a flea market which we all enjoyed, but first we strolled along the river.
The other side is the Mississippi side.
We came back at night, this time on the Miss. side, to watch the balloon glow and to take the kids to the Carnival. Isn't the sunset gorgeous? Do you see the hot air balloons on the left side of the bridge?

I love how you can see the green color of the pine tree leaves instead of just a silhouette.

Balloon Glow
The kids enjoyed the rides while we, the adults, enjoyed the food.
Zoe and Noah
The Vettes were playing live.
We came back again the next day to watch the hot air balloons take off. Here is one of the baskets where people ride. They were still in the process of setting up and blowing out the balloons.
Can you believe how long and big they are?
Here are a few that were fully blown out. They come in various sizes and colors.
There goes one!
Up. up and away!
They were so colorful. Here we are all looking happy.
Do you see the hot air blowing inside the balloon?
Up, up and away!

And while we were watching all these balloons take off, Rhett Akins was performing on stage right behind us.
I really enjoyed his music.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my pictures. Thanks to Susan for another fun filled Wednesday and thank you all for coming by!

What a great post Christine! You're in Natchez, right? I just finished a book set there during the balloon festival! I just love the balloons, they are so pretty and colorful. But you wouldn't catch me in one, I'm terrified of heights (except roller coasters, go figure?) Looks like you all had a great time and a nice visit together. The kiddos are adorable. Kathy

What beautiful pictures! I don't know if I's be brave enough to go in a balloon, but they look like fun and I love all the colors. I see you have more gorgeous grandchildren to add to the mix!

I loved the photos of the sunset. We go to a balloon launch in upstate New York every year, but they do not have the glow. I love those shots. It looks like everyone had a wonderful time.

How did I miss your OW? This is an especially interesting one. You're a great hostess to your stepdaughter and children. Everyone must have had a great time.

I've never see a balloon basket up close. Thank you for such good shots.
