Luncheon By The Pool Using Polish Pottery

We had company this last weekend so I did not have time to prepare a new tablescape. This was a luncheon with my friends in the early fall. I posted some pictures on Facebook but not here and so I decided to share it on my blog now.

No pumpkins yet but I used a few orange accessories to welcome Fall. The dishes, stemware and serving pieces are Polish Pottery.
The runner is from the Philippines. It is made out of abaca, a natural fiber and then dyed.
I thought my Christmas cactus that I planted in a blue and white pot would look good as the centerpiece, with a pair of stone candle holders topped with orange candles. I like  deep blue and orange together, don't you? Almost as good as blue and yellow.
We were so excited to eat again by the pool after the long heat of summer.
I made crab omelet and baked a cassava dessert while my friends brought rice, fish, sauteed green beans and pinakbet, an authentic Filipino dish.
The napkin ring is a single blue rose by Royal Albert.
I surrounded the centerpiece with different insects.

See the green grasshopper and the fat beetle?

My favorite of all the insects is this big dragonfly.
Isn't he a cutie? I love his cobalt blue eyes.
English summer fruits tea was served afterwards in a Polish pottery teapot to drink with our dessert.

Lastly, I would like to share my recipe for my Lemon Herb Chicken Ring. Some of you requested for me to post it.

2 cups coarsely chopped cooked chicken
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
3 tbsps. chopped fresh parsley, divided
1 lemon
2 garlic cloves, pressed
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded mozarella cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. Italian seasoning mix
1/2 cup (2 oz) parmesan cheese, divided
2 packages (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls

Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
Coarsely chop chicken.
Dice bell pepper.
Place chicken and bell pepper in a bowl.
Chop parsley.
Zest lemon to measure 1 tsp. zest
Cut lemon into thin slices in half and serve as garnish.

Add 2 tbsps of the parsley, lemon zest, pressed garlic, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise and seasoning mix to batter.
Grate parmesan cheese and reserve 2 tbsps of the cheese
Add remaining cheese to chicken mixture and mix well

Unroll crescent dough, separate into 16 triangles.
Arrange triangle, slightly overlapping, in a circle on large round stone with wide ends 4 inches from edge of baking stone (points will extend off the edge of the baking stone)
Roll wide ends of dough toward center to create a 5-inch opening.

Spoon chicken mixture evenly over dough in a continuous circle
Bring points of triangle up over filling and tuck under dough at center to form a ring. (Filling will show)
Sprinkle remaining Parmesan cheese over ring.
Bake 28-30 min or until golden brown. Remove from oven
Garnish with lemon slices and remaining parsley.

Pewter Tea Set

I did not have time to really prepare for a tea party cause we had guests these past few days and they just left yesterday. I have been busy doing laundry and cleaning up.

I thought I would just share one of my favorite tea sets, a vintage pewter set that is made in Holland. I love that it has a warmer.

I found this on Ebay a long, long time ago.

And I really like the tray too, love the piercing and ornate style.

Eat, Drink and Be Scary!

It's this time of the week again when we get to play and also this time of the month when we get to post scary but cute things.

Today, I decided to combine ghosts and witches. I found these placemats at Kohls while in FL last week.

We are expecting my stepdaughter Kerri and her family today from Florida, and I think the kids, Noah (7), Zoe (5) and Holden (3) will probably enjoy seeing this.
I have had the witch for 2 years now, just stored in the dish room in the garage but today, she got to come out for a while.

I placed her sitting on a double wire spider tray rack and she is very comfortable feeling at home there.

Took out my Wicked S & P shakers from Ross from last year. She does not look so wicked since she has that big smile.
Pewter like witch hat candle holder I found at TJ Maxx on clearance. I think it was $5.99.

Since I somewhat child proofed the house already, in preparation for the grandkids' visit, which includes turning the cabinet of drawers full of napkin rings faced to the wall, I could not get to the other napkin rings, so I used these rustic tin birds that were kept in the china cabinet drawer.
I combined the amber Iris goblets (love the bubbles) and black wine glasses. I hardly use these amber glasses because I forget them a lot of times since they are out of sight, stored behind plate chargers in my plate charger cabinet in the laundry room.
Do you see the purple spider?
 There it is!

I elevated the witch hat on a copper bowl.

 Eeeowww! There's that spider again!
I found this cute little ghost thing in the Dollar store.
Dinner plates from Homegoods in Cape Coral, FL that I bought last week while visiting my daughter.
I thought they would go so well with my German made black and white ghost plates that I bought for my classmates' visit. So, even if they are heavy, I placed them in my hand carry suitcase and struggled to lift it up on the airplane overhead bin. Of course, it was stuffed with more breakable items. It is so annoying that a Tracy Porter teapot and a big candle holder broke, in spite of my very careful packing. The problem is I had to take a small connecting flight to Baton Rouge and the airline personnel had to take this luggage to store it somewhere during the flight, and you know they are not very careful in handling bags.

Anyway, we called ourselves "Spooks" in College (and we still do) so we use ghosts a lot.
Acorn S & P shakers, tin bird napkin ring holding a black and white napkin.

Thanks a lot for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my not too scary tablescape. Thank you so much to our hostesses for always throwing these wonderful parties!

Wisteria Tea Room

I just came back from Florida to visit my kids and grandkids. I learned from a blogger (so sorry but I cannot remember who) about this tea room in Fort Myers, the Wisteria Tea Room and Cafe and sent the info to my daughter a long time ago. While planning our meals for the week, I suddenly remembered about the tea room and we decided to go there for lunch the next day.

The place is so charming and I highly recommend it if you are ever in that area.
 They had some pretty displays.
This was where we were seated.
Our 2 little darlings came with me and my youngest daughter Tina. Big brother was in school so he was unable to come.
The babies are growing so fast, that is why John and I decided to go for a visit. John went only for the long weekend because of work, but I extended my stay for 10 days.  We also attended birthday parties. My son Jed's birthday was on the 7th and so is John's daughter's son Wren, who just turned one. AJ turned 14 on the 9th. I had to split my time between 2 daughters who live 2 and a half hrs drive apart and also see my son and his wife, who fortunately live in the same area as Rochelle.
We were very excited because it was really our first experience in a tea room. As much as I like having tea with friends at home, there isn't a single tea room in the place where we live.
Here is a close up of what is on the mantel. I love the tea cup rack!
Here is a close up of the tea sets that were displayed on the shelves. I wanted to buy the purple and yellow set but my luggage was already full.

The menu was wonderful and the owner was very gracious and accomodating, even to the children.
My lovely daughter, Tina, with 2 of her kids.
For a starter, we had Darjeeling peach  tea, which was really delicious. I had an artichoke spinach white cheddar tart and chicken rice soup while my daughter had a turkey avocado panini and a cup of corn and shrimp chowder for lunch. We were both very happy with our choices.

We were so full so we just shared a creme brulee for dessert. Soooo good! We paired it with a rainbow rooibos tea which was excellent.
We really enjoyed the tea room that we decided to add it to our "Things to Do" list everytime I visit.
See all our happy faces? The babies had a lot of fun too and they were so well behaved.
Thanks for stopping by. And thank you to the hostesses who are holding these fun parties. I hope you get a chance to visit them and their participants.
