Dunleith Plantation and the Castle

Dunleith was the very first antebellum plantation mansion that we have ever experienced and laid eyes on in Natchez. I think it is also the grandest looking one. It was here where the hospital placed us for accomodations when we came over to check out the city and when John came for an interview. It is now a bed and breakfast. This was our room.

And here was John ready to be picked up by the hospital's CEO.

That evening, the hospital administrator with a a couple of doctors took us out to dinner at the restaurant behind Dunleith called The Castle. It used to house the horses and the carriages during the olden times. It was such a good experience and the food was so good that ever since John accepted the job and we moved, we have been taking people who visit us, to dinner there.

Here is Kerri with Noah on the beautiful grounds. Noah has grown a lot since so this must have been at least 3 years ago. Two years ago, we had a house full of guests, my sister Fe, her daughter Stephanie and her friend, Elvira, my son in law Marvin and my classmate from HS, Evelyn, who I have not seen for at least 40 years then, all came for a visit from Illinois and Florida. We hired a babysitter to take care of 5 kids who also came with them while we took the adults out to dinner to, where else but The Castle! I love these big doors and the huge lion door knockers.

Under the restaurant is a bar and this is where they actually kept the horses. Do you see how dark I was? It was summer then and I was always gardening and swimming. With me in this pic is my oldest sister, Fe (short hair) and my HS classmate, Evelyn.

Many of you will probably recognize this beautiful lady. Yep, last year we also took Janie of Blondie's Journal and her hubby Al to dinner here when they came to visit us.

The next pictures were just taken last week when Kerri, my stepdaughter, came for a visit. Naturally, we took her to dinner there. The food is always excellent.

My dress has pink in it so it is my pink contribution.

After eating, we drove to the front of the building to take pictures.

During dinner, John got a call from the hospital for a consult, so we stopped by there to drop him off, while Kerri and I just waited in the vehicle.

We were parked in front of the hospital's front door. Do you see the other building across the street? The suite in the closest corner of that building is John's clinic. It is the closest clinic to the hospital so it is very convenient for him. He can actually see patient's in between performing surgeries.

Aren't the roses pretty? The farthest ones are pink.

I hope you enjoyed a tour of another antebellum house here. I don't think we are allowed to take pictures of the inside but I have not really toured the house yet so I am not sure about that. Just as I said, it was the first house we ever visited here and I was not aware that we were allowed to tour it at that time. But I am targeting to visit it soon.
