Old South Winery

It was a nice day and my friend, Debjani and I had nothing better to do. She has an ongoing list of "Things for us to See or Do" on her i phone and the Old South Winery is in it. The family run small business is right in town and we see the sign all the time and everytime we pass by it for the last 4 years, we always say, we should go there sometime, but never did until this time.

It was a nice experience, although it is nothing compared to the winery I have seen in California.

This is the wine tasting room.

The lady who is the daughter of the owner (Sorry, I forgot her name) was so nice. She gave us a tour and then gave us a taste of their wines. They are all made out of muscadine grapes.

This is where they crush the grapes. The tour guide said they take it outside every night to do it.

Don't know much of anything else that the other machinery does so I will just walk you through.

Here is our personal tour guide getting ready for the wine tasting.

My favorite was Southern Belle, a white wine, which is what I bought.

I think it was Debjani's favorite too.

I am glad we got that one crossed off our list. It's like another mission accomplished. I will definitely go back there when I have guests to take. It has a very southern personalized hospitable atmosphere.

Thanks for stopping by for another Sightseeing Saturday tour.

Wow! I never knew the process for making wine was so involved? I've heard California has some of the best wineries in the world.

God bless and have a wonderful Easter :-)

We went to a winery last weekend to a British Car Club gathering and loved going through the process. Yours looks like a lovely place to go for the day.

I didn't know we had one so close by. The only one I have ever been to was at the Biltmore in North Carolina. Thanks for sharing.

What a nice trip with your friend! And do they have a "Scarlett" named wine??? I saw that coaster with Miss Scarlett. I am obsessed with anything Gone with the Wind, and Scarlett O'Hara. I think I will have to look them up online!!!! Anyway, looks like you had fun!
Best,
Gloria
