Christmas Party, 2012

It seems like I have not posted anything for eons. I was sick for a week, flu, I think. John and I went to mass on Christmas eve and then opened presents, then went to bed. It was quiet but nice and I really needed my rest. My eldest sister, Fe from Illinois, brought my mom here on the 26th so I scheduled our Christmas party on the 27th. My mom will stay with me for 2 months. It worked out pretty well cause it gave me a few days to recover.

I had over 30 people so I decided to just set up for buffet. I used my Lenox Winter Greetings set, my favorite Christmas patterned dishes.

We had lots of food, turkey complete with all the trimmings, sweet potato casserole,  ham, sushi, sweet and sour red snapper, steamed crabs, kare kare (a Filipino specialty) and palabok, another Filipino specialty with noodles, plus several desserts.

Here is our dessert table. We had fruit salad, flan, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, Cassava bibingka and various cookies and fudge and apple cranberry tea. I could not fit the cups on the table so I placed them on the hutch to the left of the table. The cups were all Lenox Winter Greetings also.

It was very informal. I just placed the drinks on the round table in the kitchen.

My mom who will be 95 years old in July. She looks so good and to think that at that age, she is not taking any prescription medicine. She only takes a fish oil capsule and One a day vitamin daily. And look at that skin!....hardly any wrinkles.
Just as I said, very informal. The guests had a good time picking and eating the crabs with their hands, lol.
My sister, me and my mom.
 The ladies, just chit chatting.
We had a Cajun exchange gift afterwards. So much fun!
We should have taken a group picture sooner cause some of the guests were already gone when I thought of it.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you all had a nice Christmas holiday and will have lots of blessings this coming new year.

Thanks to the hostesses.

What a feast, Christine. Glad you are feeling better. Several of my friends have been down with the flu this Christmas holiday. Take care and enjoy the time with your mom. She certainly doesn't look 95.

Christina, you amaze me with the awesome entertainment you do with friends and family.
Your home always looks so inviting. How wonderful it is to still have your mother at age 95 years old. That is just so awesome. I lost my mother in the 90's.
Happy New Year to you and yours!!

This was sure worth waiting for, Chris!! I just don't know how and when you get to cook such fabulous and exquisite looking food!! You also make it look so easy to make a party for 30..lord!!!!!! Everything looks beautiful and the best is a buffet when you have so many people, I've done them too..everyone just gets to serve themselves. The Lenox china is gorgeous and it looks like you have lots of dishes too. Wish you, your beautiful mama, (we're so lucky with the NO winkle mamas!) John and all your extended family a very happy, healthy, and prosperous new year 2013.
Love,
FABBY

Mama is looking REAL good! I need to know what she eats and drinks so that I can look that good at 94!!!! Wow! She's a very pretty lady! I remember when you posted a photo of her last year and I was floored at how great she looked.

I'm happy to hear you're feeling better. It's no fun to be sick ever, and especially not during the holidays when you're expecting company!!! You put on quite a spread!!!!!! That was a TON of food, Christine! It looks like everyone was really enjoying it, too! i don't really think people care if it's casual in the set-up as long as the food is really tasty. I had popcorn for dinner tonight, so it all looks EXTRA good to me!

Happy New Year to you, John, your Mom, and your whole extended family!
