Christmas Decor Put Away

I was finally able to put my Christmas decorations away from the family room. Yep, the Christmas Village is gone too!
I simplified the mantel somewhat.
Nothing is new on it except for the carved wooden Infant Jesus of Prague.
See that black hutch all the way back there in the kitchen? It's going to change very soon or rather being moved somewhere and replaced.

See? The Christmas Village which used to be on the treadmill is gone. Now hubby and I have no more excuse from exercising.

This is the side table at one end of the settee. I moved a Nippon tankard and a small urn with plants unto it. The bronze bust was already there.

I lit the fire and had cappuccino there. This is one of my favorite places to sit at home, that is, when I am not in front of the computer or in front of the TV. It is very cozy.

It's cold and wet out there so it is so nice to just relax in front of the fireplace here in the family room.

I used a "Nippon Toki Kaisha" Noritake tea cup. I like the white flowers inside the cup. Are they dogwood?

I just made a cup for myself and did not bother taking out this whole set. As you can see, it is a complete service for 6 set with dessert plates, cups and saucers, in addition to the tea pot, sugar and creamer servers. I really like the color and the pattern.

Here is the marking at the back of the cup.

Just as I said earlier, the only new thing new on the mantel is the wooden Infant Jesus.
We saw Him in an antique shop on our way home from Baton Rouge last week. I placed it at first in our niche where I have all my religious statues but I decided to move it on the mantel.

How pretty everything looks...your mantel and your sitting area in front of the fire. I would love to be sitting there with you now enjoying a hot cup of coffee or tea! Are you expecting the bad weather, too? We have been hearing all about how the South is going to get hit with rain, snow and ice. I hope you stay safe and warm.

Oh, I love your pretty Noritake china and the Infant Jesus is just precious, I can see why you bought it and it deserves special attention on your mantel.

XO,
Janie

As much as I like my Christmas decor, I am glad it is put away. I am ready For Spring and flowers, but know it is still a while away - especially since it is snowing right now!
Have a great week.

I packed the last of the Christmas decor away today! I guess there is a lot of that going on today. Your home is gorgeous. I love the Jesus!! It's an amazing piece. Your mantel looks so pretty and you are right... no more excuses.. and I keep making them myself. Are those flowers camellias? What a terrific teaset!! I love the pattern.

Such warm, cozy colors in your home! About your tea set... They're not dogwood. They look more like a lenten rose, but that may not be correct. Maybe you can identify them at www.replacements.com Good luck!

Hi Christine!

Hi Christine! You have a gorgeous home, and I love how you decorate. Your tea set from Noritake is absolutely stunning. I would love to sit by the fire and have a cappacino or cup of tea with you! Also love your header photos - especially you and your family on the stairs on the cruise ship. Last but not least, you showed Cozumel in a previous post. That's where my daughter and son-in-law were married - we got off the cruise ship for the wedding and reception there. It was beautiful. You have a wonderful week, Christine!
Hugs and blessings, Beth

Don't you just love how clean things look when you take down the Christmas decorations! I love having them up, but I'm always ready to put them away.

The china is beautiful, I love the pattern.

So, how is your mom feeling these days?

I also wanted to mention how lovely the picture above the mantel is! My hubby just happened to be passing by the computer when he stopped to look at it. We both love the picture! It just sets off your fireplace so beautifully! Thank you for sharing and for joining me for tea. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Beautiful room and decor. Love the fireplace. We have a fireplace but almost never use it. I probably need to this year. It is unusually cold.

Your first pic of Christmas-time by your fire is so cozy looking and I'd love to sit in one of those gorgeous chairs! However, your pared down look is also beautiful in its simplicity and again, the fireside is so inviting! Love that china set!

Hello Christine,
I don't know where to start. Your rooms are full of wonderfull things. Isn't it nice to have a reason to change the decoration and to foreground something what has been hidden for a while? So every thing has its own season. Your tea set is lovely, I have never seen it before. Noritake alwayws make such a tender china. All is pretty and inviting in your house. Have a good time.
Greetings, Johanna

Your home is just as cozy with or w/o holiday ornaments. I love the china set, is it possible to wash in dish machine coz there are some china's that are hand painted and it will going to be ruined when washed at the machine?
