Another Cabinet for Storing More Dishes!

I would like to add another link, Martha and Terri's Tea Cup Tuesday. To see more, visit their site at http://www.marthasfavorites.com/.
It's time to announce the winners of my giveaway! I rolled the paper with names of all the commenters and asked John to pick 2 winners. The first one he picked will select from either the set of pillows or waffle maker from CNS and the second winner will get what I had put together.

The first winner is Cindy J. of http://sisterhoodofthecreativehearts.blogspot.com/ and the second winner is Vanna of http://lvroftiques.blogspot.com/.

Congrats girls, and please email me your addresses.

Cindy, please specify which one you prefer, the set of pillows or the waffle maker?

Last Saturday, I showed you this cabinet on Laurie's "A Few of My Favorite Things". I would like to show you more of it for Met Monday, Blue Monday, Mosaic Mon, Tabletop Tues, Teatime Tuesday, Tuesday Tea for 2 and Wed. Tea for Me and Thee. The links will be at the bottom of this post.

I fell in love with it when I saw it in an antique shop. It was not for sale and it is not an antique either. But dh and I offered to buy it so the owner sold it to us. We are getting used to that. Did I tell you that when we found our house, it was not for sale either? I made 3 trips here from Florida to find a house but there were very few for sale and I just could not find anything I liked. Our realtor knew that the former owners of this house were renovating a condo they own downtown and she told them she has a buyer and would they be willing to sell the house. And they did! I was so in love with it the first time I saw it that we offered full price for it right away. I did everything on my own, did all the closing by myself too. DH was on call 24/7 so he was not able to see the house until he quit his job and we actually moved in. Luckily, he loved it too!

Anyway, sorry for getting sidetracked. Back to the furniture. Shown below are the wall before and when the movers brought the cabinet in.

There were only 2 glass shelves which seemed pretty thin to me so I called the glass company to order 2 thicker ones.

I was only able to add 1 more glass shelf in so I have a spare. I cleaned the whole cabinet and immediately moved some favorite dishes in. As you can see, I filled it pretty fast!

I placed flow blue dishes on the bottom shelf, an antique silver plated gravy server and some Waterford stems.

Then, I moved the French Limoges plates from the corner china cabinet in the dining room. They were just stacked on top of each other there because there was no room to display them. I am happy to be able to see them better now cause I really like them. With them I displayed a flow blue tea pot, blue and white pitcher and sauce tureen and a set of Tirschenreuth expresso cups and saucers, a Victorian blue and white cheese and butter server and tray.

On the next shelf, I am displaying a set of coffee pot, a silver plated wine decanter set, some colored stemware, a blue Viennese decanter set adorned with cameos, and various small blue collections.

On the top shelf, I brought the green Tirschenreuth Bavarian flowered dinner plates which used to be just stacked in the dining room corner cabinet. I also added a silver plated coffee and tea set, an English silver plated Sheffield coffee pot and 2 sets of Tirschenreuth tea and coffee sets and some vintage egg cups. Can you tell I like Bavarian Tirschenreuth dishes? I am always looking for them because the company no longer exist so they don't make them anymore.

And here, you can see all the shelves.

I really like all the carvings on the cabinet especially the top and bottom.

There is room on top and I plan to move our Victorian hunters, stag and hounds centerpiece. It's on top of the French cabinet in the dining room right now and it is very heavy so I will need someone to help me move it. I think it will look better here.

Hi C, you have the most amazing collections of dishes and porcelain pieces I think I have ever seen in one home. Your china cabinet looks like a piece that would be in a fine china shop. The flow blue alone had me in your hand, Love it,Happy Sunday, Kathysue

This is a gorgeous piece Christine! Mom found a cupboard that she thought was perfect for her home, it was part of a shop display and not for sale. She asked if they would be willing to sell it, and they were. Just goes to show it can never hurt to ask when you find something you really love. You really have the most amazing collection of china. I bet you're happy that you have more display space now! Kathy

Christine I am a drooling fool! What fab eye candy you've displayed in that cabinet of yours!!*drip* I don't even know where to start...I'm overwhelmed! And the new display cabinet is gawgeous too!! I once hounded the owner of a favorite antique for years to try and get them to sell me a chandelier they had displayed in their front window. The answer was always no....when finally I came in on my 40th B day and asked one more time and they said YES!! I value that chandy all the more because it was so difficult to atttain. Sometimes things are just "meant to be" *winks* And I'm soooo excited to win your contest!! YIPPEEE!!! Vanna

Hi Christine,

Beautiful as always. I enjoyed hearing about your home purchase as well; you are a character! When I saw you gave away a waffle maker, I had to laugh. This week when my first waffle of the morning had finshed cooking, I went to open the waffle maker and presto....the handle broke off!!! I had to hold the waffle maker with 2 potholders and my hubby took a screwdriver and pried the thing open. I guess it was just getting too old. So when we go on vacation this coming week I hope I will have time to look for one! Have a blessed week.
