Artists at Work!

I won! I won! The Tablescaper at http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com/ was giving a giveaway and I just happened to stop by and signed up and wouldn't you know it that I won? This set of bird dinner plates are perfect for me since I love tablescaping. I can't wait to use them. Thanks a lot for pulling my name! I love them!!

Last week, John and I had a 3 day birthday celebration. Yep, John and I were born on the same day, 3 years apart, so we never forget each other's birthday.
I am linking with Susan for Outdoor Wed., Lady Katherine for Teatime Tuesday and Wanda Lee for Tuesday Tea for 2 (even if there were 3 of us, lol)
Please visit them at:

The day before the actual date, 2 of my friends came over for some oil painting lessons. They wanted to learn how to paint so I told them to go to Walmart and just buy a canvas and I would have everything else we need at home. They not only brought a canvas when they came but they also brought a birthday cake and a plant.

I had bought some donuts earlier because I did not know they were bringing a cake. I made some coffee since it was early and I like donuts and coffee in the morning.

Here are my friends while we were setting up. I have not painted for so long and I had to go up in the attic to pull out the easels. They suggested we paint outside by the pool because it was a nice day and it would be relaxing with the sound of the fountains in the background.

We picked our spots and they took out a picture that they wanted to paint. I told them to start drawing and they both looked at me and said, "We don't know how!" LOL!
So, I took their pictures and copied them and started drawing on the canvas. Mine is the round canvas. I bought it on line at Blicks.com and I've had it for almost 2 years now sitting on the garage shelf.
Our coffee is ready whenever we need a drink.
There is a donut shop here in town that makes the best donuts. Mmmmm, yummy!

While painting, the Fedex truck came to deliver my favorite Filipino pastries sent by my daughter. So we ate these too and we never had a chance to blow the cake cause we were stuffed. We froze the cake and we plan to eat it on our next painting session, which will be soon because they enjoyed painting so much. A third friend wants to join us too.

Here is the one that Debjani did.

And there's Nit's. Really not bad for first timers, right?
Here's mine.

I am waiting for it to dry and then I will add a paler yellow on the upper half of the stamen.

The day of our birthday, John and I went out to dinner and the day after, our friends took us out to dinner again. I told you we had a 3 day celebration.
I am looking forward to another painting session.
Thanks for your visits and please visit our hostesses and their participants also.

Happy Birthday to you and John! That wonderful you have the same day! Now, I wish I lived closer! Oh, such a fun day of painting! The paintings are wonderful! I love your magnolia! I just knew yours would be a peacock. lol Your so talented, and the ladies are too! I love the tray all set up for coffee! I adore doughnuts! When I come you will have to show me where the Doughnut Shop is so I can bring some home. lol Thank you for joining me for Tea Time Tuesday, with such a enjoyable day by the pool with good friends, food and painting! I will drink coffee, but it has to have a lot of milk and vanilla in it, or chocolate. lol Terry takes his black. I hoping to bring some friends with me to Natchez, just waiting to see if they can come too. Love seeing how you spend your days relaxing!

Happy Birthday to you both! How awesome is that that you are born exactly 3 years apart! That really does make remembering birthdays easier :o)

AW! I want to come over and paint!!!! Oh you all did awesome paintings!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comment. My hubby and I had a wonderful time up at my dad's (the 26 hour drive to my dad's from our home in Georgia to his home in Wisconsin was well worth it :o) Thank goodness though for the midway stop to sleep and visit with our kids who are all at college in Kentucky :o)

It was straight back to work for me, so haven't had a minute to catch up really on blogging, but I want to try to reply to the wonderful comments left on my N post.

Blessings & Aloha!

Happy Birthday to you and John, Christine. To think that one year ago we celebrated together!!

I have been behind on your posts again but I have gone back to read about your trip to D.C. (Love the picture of John on the steps with AJ thinking he is crazy!). Many beautiful pictures. And I loved the diner tablescape. I do remember those pictures from your tablescape at Tina's. Very cool!! Your fountain makeover is going to be a treat to see and I enjoyed this post as well. I can draw somewhat and I have only painted with watercolors. I have a ton of paints and supplies but lost my ambition. Your lotus flower is lovely. I have never seen a round canvas. You will have to show me
all of your artwork.

I have been blogging a lot and I don't know how I keep missing your posts, but I do apologize. Have a great day, my friend!

Happy Birthday!
I read faithfully, but never comment. My husband and I also share a birthday, three years apart. He wanted to get married on that day, too, but I said No way!

We enjoy the shared birthday, though.

Your tables are always amazing, and I so enjoy your blog!
