Back to Earth Tones

Just because I am not home does not mean I cannot particiapate with Tablescape Thursday. Talk about being hooked, huh? I took pictures before I left home and loaded them into my laptop so I don't miss this fun meme. LOL! Tablescape Thursday is hosted by our most gracious hostess, Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. Thank you Susan, for giving us tablescape addicts something to look forward to every week.

Since Easter is far gone, I thought I would go back to my favorite colors, the earth tones. I know it is not fall yet but I just love the warmth these colors bring and I use them a lot.

I bought the runner from Belize.

For a centerpiece, I just threw in some flowers in a sage green pitcher, some mustard colored bejeweled decorator pieces, alligator skin covered boxes and an ambered colored fairy lamp I bought from an antique store downtown. And do you see the little bird that Laurie from http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/ gave me? Doesn't it look perfect there?
I bought this hand painted dinnerware set from Dillard's while shopping in Baton Rouge with my friend, Nit. I think they were like 70% off. Who can resist that kind of discount? Not me, even if we had to carry this heavy stuff into the car. I was just glad I could take advantage of Nit's muscles too. I don't know why department stores have no shopping carts.
I bought the chargers from Dillard's also. They are in 3 different colors, cream, green and pale buttery yellow. I also added wooden oval chargers from Neiman Marcus.
I alternated 2 kinds of salad plates, one that exactly matches the dinner plate and another shaped like a flower. I saw this set on Horchow and Neiman Marcus and when I saw the price even at their presently 30% off right now, I was glad I already bought them on sale at Dillards. The pattern is called "Nature's Essentials" I love how it has an alligator pattern on it adding masculinity and flowers for femininity.

My son and daughter in law gave me the orange flatware set last Christmas.

I bought the goblets after Halloween last year and had kept them in the garage and remembered about them while setting this table, so I took them out of the box and washed them. I thought they match perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed seeing our table. Thanks for coming by and thanks again to Susan for hosting this event.

Beautiful and elegant ! The warm tones amist the rich ones really make the table sparkle ! I agree with why department stores don't
have carts....I guess maybe we should all invest in baby strollers
for our shopping outings....lol !

I hope you are having a wonderful time in Florida. The alligators are definitely to be respected, but would never make pets for anyone. The nuisance ones are quickly tied up and dispatched to that great alligator home in the sky, but for the most part you have to respect the sheer power of these creatures. ( At a distance!)

The plates at that price were a must buy even if you had to carry them with help. It would have been a crime to have left them at the store:) Together it all looks great.

Hi, Christine:

Everytime I come by your blog, I feel I am surfing through some Vintage Magazines. I had been busy for my taxes and changing the outlooks of my blog. Enjoy the break to stop by here and get some fresh air. I saw the picture of your mom's 90th birthday. She looks healthy and happy and so are your family and friends.
