Sightseeing in Tallinn, Estonia and a Pink and Green Wedding by the Lake

I am doing a twofer again today. It's Saturday so it's sightseeing and pink time. Pink Saturday is hosted by Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/. I hope you check out her site and see the list of pink participants so you can visit them. It's always fun!
I host Sightseeing Sat. although there aren't any takers except for gracious Chandy of http://whatnowtablescapes.blogspot.com/. She'll have her post by midnight so make sure you check out where she is taking us. Aren't there any traveler's out there? It does not have to be out of the country nor even out of town. Any good scenes at home you can share would be good. Just send me a comment if you are interested and I will add you to my post.
For today, I am taking you to Tallinn, Estonia. You might be wondering where that is. I was the same way, I had no idea until I went there. Anyway, it is located on the Baltic Sea, south of Finland and bordering west of Russia. Estonia was part of the old Soviet Union until it got its independence in 1991 and its capital is Tallinn. The city still has a Russian flavor fused with west and Scandinavian cultures. I really enjoyed the old world ambience while touring this wonderfully preserved medieval city.
I traveled with my 2 sisters shown here with me. I am the youngest of the 3 though not the smallest.
Estonian Parliament building and tall Herman Tower
We went in and shopped a little at the small shop of a Russian Orthodox Cathedral called Alexander Nevsky. I bought some Russian religious icons which one of them I will add for my giveaway on my 100th post. So watch out for that. I am still a few posts away.
Lower town view of Tallinn that took my breath away!

We took a walk through the old cobblestone streets. I think the surrounding was so quaint.
Another exciting tour we took was the Kadriorg (meaning"Catherine's Valley") Palace. I don't know why but I just love touring palaces. I love seeing all the lovely things inside. This palace is very modest compared to the ones we toured in Russia but it was also built by Tsar Peter I in the 18th century for his empress Catherine. Baroque and stuccoed ceilings are evident everywhere inside.
I fell in love with the landscaped garden.
Remember, Princess Alexandra's painting in the Russian palaces? Here's another one here. She was truly the tsar's favorite.
Look at the beautiful sculptures everywhere.
This fireplace is magnificent.
Painted and stuccoed ceiling
I am thinking this might be a Meissen. It looks like it, doesn't it? If John traveled with me, I would know for sure cause he would turn it over to see the maker. LOL! I wouldn't dare do that!
a wonderful clock
I would love to have this set on my mantel.
Beautiful Estonians selling warm roasted almonds at Old Town.
Old Town Flea Market. If there is shopping, me and my 2 sisters will be there for sure. LOL! My oldest sister on the left is from Illinois and she was the one who gave me the antique clock. The one in the center, Tess, is from St. Louis, so you know we don't all see each other very often so touring together was really a lot of fun.
This tricycle looks very interesting.
Well, I hope this made up for my short post last Sat. and hope you enjoyed the tour.
Now, it's time for Pink Saturday. Thanks, Beverly for hosting this enjoyable meme.
For outdoor Wed, I showed you pictures of my stepdaughter' s wedding outdoors. Now, let's head up for the brunch reception. It's all pink in here.
Pink petals and do you see the wedding favors that I created? I will share them with you again on Met. Mon.

Here is a closer view of the favor. It's honey inside the jar. You can also click for more details.
The proud daddy ready to give the bride away.
Teary eyed dad with a pink boutonniere.
The bride and the groom.
The lovely and happy bride with her mostly pink floral bouquet.
Have a nice weekend! Hope you enjoyed coming to see my post today. Thanks again!

Christine, I'll be joining you soon, around Texas midnight.

I love those pictures plus the pictures of the couple and that pretty place they were wed. I hope I can actually go to those places. You make it so tempting. ;-)

We'll have to stay put this summer... ;-( My husband's work schedule just changed and it'll take weeks to get used to it so we'll just be exploring the nearby cities for now...

To great posts in one! I would join in on your sightseeing adventures, but I don't do anything or go anywhere - I live vicariously through you - but when I go to the Mall of America or up the north shore to Duluth I will be sure to snap a lot of pictures. Your lucky you have sisters to travel with. Now on to the wedding - (My wedding was Pink & Green, too back in the day.) Your stepdaughter was a very beautiful bride and the reception tablescapes were very pretty as well as her bouquet. ~ Robyn

What a l♥vely Pink Saturday blog entry. This is the one day of the week when I get to sit for a couple of hours and soak in my favorite color. Thanks for being a part of that day☺

Wishing you and yours a wonderful family weekend. I will be remembering my father who served in WWII, and praying for all of our military who are in harms' way.
