Purse Addiction, Pink Soup and Chankanaab

It's Favorite Day time! I am happy to link with Laurie at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/
I am also linking with Beverly for Pink Saturday at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/
and
The Tablescaper for Summer Sunday at http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com/
and of course, my Sightseeing Saturday still goes on.
When my youngest daughter Tina, came for a visit with her 2 boys last month, the very first thing she did as soon as she got here was invade my purse armoire. LOL! You see, I am not just a dishaholic but a purseaholic and shoesaholic as well, and my kids know that very well.
She snatched a Coach and Micheal Kors purses. And what do I do?
When we went to Destin, we went to the Outlet Mall (It's my favorite outlet mall and I never miss it whenever we go to Destin) and found replacements. So these are my new favorite purses now and they are kept in my favorite French antique armoire. It was John's birthday gift to me last year. It's actually meant for linens but I assigned a better purpose for it. After all, we already have built in linen closets.
Am I crazy or what? I have purses in baskets on the shelves of our walk in closet also.:-)

While we were having dinner during our Caribbean cruise, AJ ordered a Strawberry bisque for her appetizer. After realizing that her plate and her cold soup are both pink, she asked me to take a picture and post it for Pink Saturday. They learn early in life, don't they? As you can see my top was also in the palest pink.

And now for Sightseeing Saturday, I am taking you to our second port of call when we went on our cruise, which was Cozumel, Mexico. I have been there several times but this is the first time we discovered Chankanaab. It was a fun resort and we will definitely go back there.

Summer Sunday means another Mexican vacation. We like to take my oldest grandkid with us since she is on vacation from school.

It was quite a distance to walk from where the ship was docked so we paid the yellow tricycle guy to take us to the port. The port is so lush with many tropical and colorful plants.

We were taken to a museum that tells a lot of stories about Mexican culture. Shown below are handicrafts that are so detailed and colorful.

I had a fresh coconut juice and it was so good and refreshing especially in that very hot weather.
We also had some Mexican food in the resort restaurant. Did you notice that their diet coke is labeled "light" instead of "diet".

A painting of the Virgin Mary was on the floor enclosed in glass.

Outside the museum were models of Mexican pyramids and churches. Below was our tour guide "Arturo" who spoke excellent English.

After the museum, we were taken to Chankanaab.

Simply breathtaking from the moment we entered the resort.

They had dolphins, shallow water for smaller kids, swimming pools and deeper water for snorkeling. They also have a garden that we did not have a chance to see due to lack of time.

Sea Grapes

Gorgeous Views!

Look at the pretty color of the water. AJ was enjoying it too.

So tropical with all the nipa huts.

It rained so hard for about 10 minutes. For a while there, we thought we wouldn't be able to snorkel but then the rain stopped and the sun started shining again, so off we went towards the sea.

I gave the underwater camera to AJ and she took all these pictures except for hers, which John took. I am too chicken to go in deeper water. There is a statue of Jesus at the bottom of the sea, about 20 ft. down.

I hope you enjoyed sightseeing with us. Thanks for coming along.

Thanks to our hostesses for today. Be sure you visit them to see more interesting posts.

What a great post, Christine!!

The purses...how did I miss these? I would be in purse heaven, actually Emily would be, she loves designer purses, I just like what I see. Okay, I will take a Coach purse any day! lol!

You have all the perfect pinks for PS. I love your top...it looks so pretty on you.

I have never been to Cozumel, Jeffrey {oldest son} has been there and didn't tell me it was so pretty. I am afraid of deep water, too and can only snorkel where my feet can touch the bottom. AJ took great pictures!!

I was so happy to see your post pop up first when I signed on. You wanted me to see a post and I forgot which one...one that I missed. Let me know again and I will take a peek!

Have a wonderful weekend, my lady friend! :-)

Hi Christine,

I too have a purse addiction, but instead of collecting many purses, I buy one high end purse and it holds me for a year or two. My latest crush is the blue patent leather Lady Dior. These purses were designed for Princess Diana and she can be seen with them in many pictures. I'm dying to have one.

Christine, when I see your amazing purse collection, I always wonder if John gets to help pick out your purses, since he often ends up having to hold them. You got two great ones on your trip. I want some of that strawberry bisque. Those underwater photos are amazing! Thank you for linking up. laurie

Hi Christine,

Well then! LOL One day when I'm a grandmother I want to look as young as you. It says in your profile that you are a scientist. Have you discovered a special youth potion. If you did, I hope you will share your secret.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY CHRISTINE,
I CONFESS...I AM A PURSE ADDICT AND I WOULD LOVE TO GO THROUGH YOUR PURSES...I'M PARTIAL TO KATHY VANZEELAND (I THINK THAT IS HER NAME)...SHE HAS ALL THE AWESOME CHARMS HANGING OFF THE PURSE BUT I REALLY LOVE VINTAGE PURSES.
I AM SO HAPPY GOING ON YOUR TRAVELS WITH YOU. YOU GO TO PLACES I WILL PROBABLY NEVER GO TO BUT WHEN I SEE THE PICTURES I IMAGINE MY TOES IN THE WARM SAND, THE SOUNDS OF THE WAVES, AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLOR OF THE OCEAN.
I LOVED THAT UNUSUAL PALM TREE THAT THE BRANCHES SPREAD OUT INTO A FAN...THAT WAS A STUNNING PICTURE.
I WAS JUST CURIOUS IF ANYONE SAID WHY THERE IS A STATUE UNDER THE OCEAN OF JESUS UNLESS IT IS TO WITNESS TO THE DIVERS.
HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND
HUGS

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun there! The food looks delicious! I'm so glad you guys had an underwater camera, when you started to say you went snorkeling I thought to myself "they need an underwater camera . . ." LOL! Have a nice rest of the weekend! I'll be putting photos up of Noah's birthday party on FB soon!
