Does Grazing the Table

We have 2 birthday celebrants in the family on October 7, my son Jed who turns 41 (Geez, I am getting old, lol)  and John's daughter's son Wren who turns 4, so I thought I will set this table for them. My son is a hunter and Wren loves animals.

Happy Birthday, Jed and Wren. Love you both!
Here is Jed with his twin nieces. He really spoils them and they just adore him!
And this is Wren with his newborn baby brother. Aren't they just the most precious and cutest boys?
And here are the does grazing the table. I hope the table is masculine enough.
My friend from Natchez, Brenda, gave me these candle holders last Christmas. They are perfect for Fall and I love them.

I used our dark brown bamboo flatware set.
Brown and beige American Atelier dinnerware in "Mehndi" pattern. The plate chargers are wooden and oval from Horchow. I have had them for several years now.
I bought the really heavy iron rustic deer from Grandmother's Buttons in St. Francisville, MS a few years ago. They were 90% off and I think John and I bought them all, lol. I just spread them all over the table.

The amber "iris" goblets were from Horchow from years ago and I bought the wine glasses with autumn leaves from the Dollar Store.
I was organizing the garage and one of the bins' labels showed that my orange Bavarian Tirschenreuth teapot is there so I took it out. I like using it in the Fall because of its colors. It did not have any matching sugar and creamer servers so I just used my white medallion ones. For the tea cups (since I have not found my matching ones yet), I just used Polish pottery with predominantly orange in colors and 2 postale mugs with orange and also used my hunt scene cup and saucer.

Thank you so much for your visits. I also like to thank the hostesses for the parties that I am participating in.

2 Projects Accomplished While Teen Sitting

My daughter Rochelle and family had a scheduled retreat the other week but their teenage daughter AJ, has school which they did not want her to miss. So, they asked if we would stay at their house for the week to keep her company. Of course, we are always willing to take care of grand kids and allow Rochelle and her family enjoy a normal life after Rea has been in and out of hospitals last year.

Anyway, I thought it would be a good time to do some projects while I was there. This was AJ's bedroom for almost 4 years now. Cute, but she is older now, wll be 17 in a week, and has lost interest on this cutesy stuff. We decided to redo the walls, for a start.
Another "Before" picture
This is how it looks after we painted the walls a really faint blue color. You will also notice that her twin size bed has been replaced a queen.
Her furniture need to be updated. We searched for used ones that I could refinish but did not find what we wanted. AJ also wants an iron headboard but again, we did not find what she likes and we ran out of time.

I repainted her old dresser, which she plans to give to the twins after we find her a bigger one.
We also searched for a pair of night stands but as you can see, we have not found any yet. I need another month to stay there and help her search but I am already home cause I have things to do at home too. For now, this is how her bedroom looks and she really likes it. The color is very soothing. I will keep searching for furniture for her but this will do until then.
Here was another one of my projects. Sorry but I forgot to take before pictures but I can describe what this area used to look like. It was just a solid wall against the staircase. My son in law, Derek, is really handy. He knew there was space behind the wall so he opened it up during one of Rea's stays in the hospital and created an opening for the girls to go in and created a club house/playroom for our 3 little girls.

The inside walls were all painted white and that was how it was when we came.

I originally planned to paint clouds and a tree and birds inside the room but I really did not have enough time. The family was scheduled back in 6 days and I already spent 3 of them painting AJ's room, not to mention driving her back and forth to school and doing the normal house chores like cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc, and furniture hunting. It took me a lot of time painting because of the different color splatters that I had to cover. I had to prime the wall twice.
I found a tree wall stick ons with birds and some butterflies and I knew they would work. I think they were perfect and the room turned out really cute.
The "Princess Parking" plaque was already there. I need to move it to the other wall and park one of their ride on toys.
Our 3 toddler granddaughters love playing pretend tea parties so I got them a little tea set, bought a small checkered dishcloth and arranged a picnic tea party by the tree to surprise them. You can see a little bit of the ceiling here where I painted some clouds.

They were so excited when they saw the room as soon as they arrived.
Their smiles were priceless!
How I miss these babies now that I am back home.
Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your visits and comments. I also thank all our diligent hostesses for all their parties.

Tea Party with Granddaughter Reese

If you follow me, you know that we moved from MS to FL, right next door to my daughter and her family. So, I get to see my grandkids a lot. The 2 boys go to school but Reese, the youngest and only girl stays at home with her mom. Tina dropped her off one morning while she went running and John was still in bed. She brought a little tea set with her, the one I bought for her from Budapest, Hungary and told me she wants to have a tea party. I told her we will do better than that because we will have a real tea party on the front porch.
As you can see, she was very excited.

She helped me bring out all our tea items, bite sized cheese cakes and raspberry tea.

Being outdoor, I thought the white butterfly tea set was appropriate. They are small enough so perfect to hold the tea just for the 2 of us.

 She was all smiles!
I asked her if she wanted to use the Mickey and Minnie cups. And you guessed the answer right!

What a fun morning we had! Thanks for stopping by. And thanks to the parties!

Summer Transition to Fall Tablescape

It's September and the air is actually getting somewhat cooler outside, so I decided to start adding warmth to my table. This will be the first of my series of Fall tablescapes.

I thought this Bavarian Tirschenreuth dinnerware in Dogwood pattern would be perfect for the transition, not too summery but not too autumnal.
The stems of the goblets are actually moss green in color too, but it is not too evident in these pictures
I love this vintage tureen transferware, very fall-ish in color. I bought it from Richard Crowell's store a long time ago.
Aren't those ghosts so cute? Not too scary at all. They are from Goodwill.

Lacy orange tablecloth with maple leaves.
I don't know the pattern name but they are silver plated.
 Squirrels S & P shakers from Walmart

I love this pair of very heavy iron art nouveau candlesticks holder. I bought them from an antique store in Natchez, I think for $8. Score!!!

I thought I would use these asparagus and artichoke (at least, I think that is what they are) napkin rings but the rests are still unpacked and I could not find them so I added some rustic butterfly rings too.
I started adding some Fall touches on the buffet too.

I still do not have all of our tea sets here so I just took a white medallion teapot to mix with my Dogwood cups and saucers.

Thank you so much for your visits and thanks to the hostesses throwing the parties. Your efforts are always appreciated.
