My New Toy in the Kitchen

Everybody seems to think that I will be very busy taking care of new grand kids in Florida but I think I will be able to rest there. I seem to keep taking upon projects after projects here at home. In the midst of the chaos caused by floor flooding and packing for a long trip to Florida, not to mention attending parties of friends here since they say they will miss me being gone for so long, I decided to add a lighted pot rack in the kitchen. Don't forget, I am still emptying the office cause tomorrow, they are removing the rug. I still have to disconnect all the computers and printer and have to label the cables so they can be reconnected back easily, but I am still using the computer so will have to do that later tonight. Yes, we decided to go ahead and replace the floor in here too. And so far, 7 boxes of dishes were just delivered from Fedex and were just unpacked, just to be packed in plastic bins. This is the Winter Greetings Christmas china that I just won from Ebay and there are almost 100 pieces.

Anyway, I searched and searched for something I like that would look good above the kitchen counter. Alas, I found it on Amazon and so I ordered it. It arrived yesterday so today, we asked Mitch to come and install it.

The 2 consecutive photos below are the "Before" pictures.

Wow! This picture must really be old. We did not have the TV on the brick wall yet and I still had the black hutch there.

And here is our talented electrician/handyman Mitch installing the pot rack.

It's up! I couldn't believe how closely it matched our hanging light in the breakfast nook and I did not not even try to match it. I must just be drawn to that style, huh! Do you see what I mean? I did not hang any pots yet because the only nice ones I have are Le Creuset but I am afraid they might be too heavy. Does anybody know? Oh well, I think I will search for copper ones. Don't you think copper pots and pans will look good hanging there?

In case you are wondering what that stainless steel control knob on the counter is, it is a built in system for a food processor. I have the attachments under the cabinet but I have never used them. They were there when we bought the house.

I really like how bright my cooking area is now. Maybe it will entice me to cook more often, lol.

I hope you like it as much as I do. I cannot wait to find the right pots to hang from it. I might try some that I already have, tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by. By the time this post, I will be in Florida already, maybe resting, lol.

Hi sweetie, I love your new toy at the kitchen, what a light! I can notice it even on the pic and I love the hooks for hanging pots, maybe some copper ones, or just the pretty and different ones, I'm sure you have. How wonderful you're going to receive your new angels, lucky you! Please let us know and send pics! I just came back since last Tuesday from helping my daughter Sofia move to her new house and it looks gorgeous, for which I'm happy, but I'm totally exausted from all the work that it's moving, making a tree for the girls and I had non-stop work!! This is Christmas Eve week, so I'll be so busy with the kids, they'll be coming and my mother who makes a party at her house too and I'm the one that gives the hard hand at helping her, although she cooks and does a lot, still! I'm also late caz I have to still do some shopping. Lots of hugs. Love, FABBY
PS. Thank you for your lovely words for the Pink S. featrure and you know I also feel the same about you darling.

That is perfect and the lights are a great added touch.

It's perfect, Christine. I think you're right about enameled cast iron being too heavy. Copper is pretty heavy as well, but not quite as heavy, and I think it would look stunning up there.

Have a great Christmas!

What a fantastic looking light Christine!! You have such a great kitchen for cooking and baking- looking forward to one of those one of these days! I am right now trying to back my 50+ breads I do for friends and neighbors- how much quicker and less mess if I had that great kitchen of yours!

Have fun relaxing!

That is a really awesome pot rack. I had one in my Florida home and loved it. It did not have a light though, and I have never seen one like yours. Good job Christine. You sure are a busy bee. Go rest in Florida LOL.

Christine, I so covet your beautiful pot rack. I have been wanting one for so long. I think they are so efficient in organizing your pots and pans. I hate getting under the kitchen cupboards where I store my pots. It always looks like such mess.

I love it, Christine! It looks fabulous and I love that it is lit. Are you going to hang copper pots? I hear there is a lot of polishing involved but they would look so pretty with the style of your kitchen!!

Wishing you a wonderful time in Florida and Merry Christmas!

It looks like it belongs! I have had pot racks before and I love how they finish a kitchen. Speaking of kitchen's, yours is so huge and inviting. I think copper pots or copper bottom pots will look great.

I like how the wood colors refined your kitchen. This is one of the most inspiring kitchens I've ever seen! Who helped you decorate it? Even if there's plenty of stuff, it doesn't look cluttered at all. Good job!
