Flatware Cloche

Yesterday, I showed you my tablescape without food and today I decided to show you the same table with food and with the centerpiece a little switched around. I had a lot of inquiries about the flatware cloche that I showed with my tablescape yesterday. So, I took more pictures and decided to link with Kelli's Show and Tell at http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/

Noah was so excited to eat with the grown ups in the "fancy" (that's what he called it, lol) dining room. He thought it was such a big treat and he felt so grown up since his younger brother and sister did not get the same privilege.
We had Spanish yellow rice, roasted red potatoes with rosemarie, zucchini with shrimp, flan and red wine (except for Noah and John who do not drink except for diet coke). I used a dozen egg yolks for flan so I used the whites and made merengue balls.

I am sorry the pictures are not that great but it is not easy to take pictures at night of a cloche. You can't really use a flash cause it reflects on the glass and I was just too busy to set up the tripod.

Here's an even close picture. The dome includes the wooden stand inside. The glass is very heavy. When I lift it up, I have to support the base with my other hand.

Blue and Green and Almost Spanish

It's Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ and I had a great time playing with the dishes and table, especially because we have my stepdaughter visiting and is very interested, so I showed her how I set the table.

Please visit Susan and Leigh to see their awesome posts and get ideas from all their participants. I set this table today planning to use it for dinner tomorrow. We are going to try to feed the 2 little ones early and then put them to bed but we will let the oldest one, Noah who is 4, join us. We will cook Spanish rice and something else to be decided and for dessert, I will make some flan.
So, I picked some dishes that will go with Spanish food. The blue crystal candle holders are Princess House. I've had them since I lived in Florida. The little crystal tea light candle holders are from TJ Maxx or Marshalls, I think.
I added a butterfly to my flowers on a vase because it matches the plate chargers.

I pulled these green sparkly napkin rings from my table accessory drawer and I think they match the charger and the butterfly perfectly.

I also used Polish pottery candle melter to make the room smell good.

Here is one of the 4 chargers that I used. They are glass and sparkly, perfect for Christmas too, I think. They are also my contribution to Thrifty Thursday because I got a real good deal on them on Ebay. I got all 4 of them for 99 cents, although I paid $14.99 for shipping. I think it is still worth it for 4 heavy glittery glass plates. I also love the color.

Here is the dinner plate. I thought the green on it blends with the charger plate color very well.

My cobalt blue goblets are from Walmart for $1.99 each, that's thrifty too, right?

I found this mini covered tureen or sauce server from the flea market last Saturday. I just love it cause it has the same design as my full size tureen, which I also used here as part of my centerpiece.

And here's Kerri, my stepdaughter who is visiting from Florida with her 3 little kids. I got her hooked on dishes and tablescaping, lol! She has been spending her free time (as soon as the kids go to bed) watching and bidding for dishes on Ebay. I gave her 10 of my plate chargers (8 gold and 2 silver) to get started. It gives me a little more room in the cabinet so I can buy more, lol.

Lastly, I wanted to show you my cloche storage for my lion handled flatware that I both got from Horchow or Neiman Marcus.

Up, Up and Away!

We just had a fun filled hectic weekend which I want to share with you on Outdoor Wednesday. OW is made possible by Susan of http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Make sure you visit her to see her awesome outdoor post and then check out all her other outdoor participants.

My stepdaughter, Kerri and her 3 little kids are here for a visit. It so happened that this past weekend was the annual Balloon Festival here and there were lots of activities going on so there were so many places for us to take them. Most of the activities took place by the Mississippi River. Here they are in the Louisiana side. There was a flea market which we all enjoyed, but first we strolled along the river.
The other side is the Mississippi side.
We came back at night, this time on the Miss. side, to watch the balloon glow and to take the kids to the Carnival. Isn't the sunset gorgeous? Do you see the hot air balloons on the left side of the bridge?

I love how you can see the green color of the pine tree leaves instead of just a silhouette.

The kids enjoyed the rides while we, the adults, enjoyed the food.

The Vettes were playing live.

We came back again the next day to watch the hot air balloons take off. Here is one of the baskets where people ride. They were still in the process of setting up and blowing out the balloons.

New Pedestal Tables and Blue Jewelry Casket

You might recall me showing you this pair of Sevres egg compotes a while back for Blue Monday. They are too big that I had a hard time finding pedestal tables to fit them so I just left them in the dining room floor.

Last week, I finally found 2 tables big enough to accomodate them. They are 21 inches in diameter. I placed them in two corners of the living room. I gave the tables to John for an anniversary present.

How do you like them? Here is the other one.

I would also like to show you a blue Sevres porcelain jewel casket with bronze ormolu.

It has painted flowers inside.

It is sitting on the side table of the living room.
