Middle Rhine River Cruise

The last time I posted on "Oh The Places I've Been", was our visit to Marksburg Castle in Brauback. You can see the castle standing proudly on top of the hill behind me and my sister, Fe.

Right after touring the Marksburg, we boarded the Namedy to sail on the Middle Rhine River and have our lunch there. I won't say much because I just want you to enjoy the pictures as we sail along.

My 2 sisters, Fe and Tessie, on either side of our friend, Edna.

We passed by so many vineyards.

Beautiful fall colored leaves amidst the houses in the village.

I think those animals are goats.

Today is Laurie's Annual Valentine's Day Party at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/. Please join us! I almost did not join because I was setting up the tables for a party with my friends on Valentine's Day but I wasn't quite ready for the big day. But being the party goer that I am, I did not want to miss out so why not just set a temporary table for 2? After all, it is more romantic that way and Valentine's Day is all for lovers and romance, isn't it?

So, here it is! Starting with a red lace table cloth with hearts all over it, I laid some pieces which I thought would look romantic. I thought of using my cherub since cupid is a cherub. He resides indoors though I think he might be more for the garden.

The tea set is "Briar Rose"

John gave me these three preserved roses in past Valentine and anniversary days.

These napkins were already on the formal table I was setting up in the living room and I just borrowed them, lol. The flatware set is made by Wm. Rogers. I won the tea cup and snack set (it is a service for 8 but I only used 2 here) in an antique store drawing downtown.

John must like stuffed animals cause he keeps giving there stuffed teddy bears, lol. I think I am too old for them but I keep them anyway.

Blue Willow Divided Plates and Pewter

Last week, I shared a blue and white table in the dining room and I mentioned I had another one set up in the kitchen breakfast nook. Here is the other one, where I used mostly Blue Willow plates and accessories.

I also mixed and accessorized the table with pewter and pewter colored plate chargers. Aside from the blue and white, there is another theme going here. Have you noticed it? Think geometry!

The plate chargers are octagonal in shape. The white salt and pepper shakers are also octagonal.

I won this Blue Willow toast rack from Ebay.

The pewter wine glasses are only 6 sided, hexagon. I just noticed it now from the picture. I thought they were octagonal too. The bubble glass goblets are Polish pottery. I found them at a Polish pottery shop in the market place in Seattle.

Does anybody know what that little gadget on the candle tray is for?

Blue and white ceramic napkin rings.

Pewter flatware, not sure if they are hexagonal or octagonal. Need to check them later.

Pewter apple and pear S & P shakers

This miniature Red Cliff tureen is also octagonal in shape.

The small teaspoons are from London. I saw them in the airport while on a stop over when we traveled in Europe this past fall.

I love this little cute Blue Willow mortar and pestle.

The plates are English made. I found them in an antique store in Destin. FL.

For tea, I thought I would use my pewter set. I just love this pierced pewter tray! I do love the tea set too and I can serve coffee in the larger pot.
