Antique Desk Chair, Mama in Pink at Town Square,Update on Store

It is again Saturday so we will take a short trip, actually 2 short trips, both close by. I am also linking with Beverly for Pink Saturday at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ and Laurie for A Few of My Favorite Things at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/
and Debbie for Garage Salen at http://debbie-debbiedoos.blogspot.com/

First, let me show you a new favorite.

John, me and my mom went out to dinner downtown with another physician and her sister who is visiting our town. After dinner as we were driving through downtown, we noticed that one of our favorite antique store who is having a big sale this weekend was still open. I knew they were just there to prepare for the big sale. So, when John asked me to go and ask the owners what time they will open in the morning, I was kinda embarrassed, but we were really hoping we would get invited to browse around so I knocked on the door. Sure enough, we were invited in even if it was already late.

Well of course, there were a lot of things Jonn and I liked. But I was particularly drawn to the chair with wood carved griffins with claw feet. All their items were 10 to 50% off. The owner immediately checked what the discount was on this and luckily it was 50% off. John whispered to me that I can have it if I want it. Yes, of course I want it. I believe it is made by R.J. Horner
and it is from the 1800's. I bet you are curious where I am going to put it. Well, I have room in the guest room because I moved the leather chair and ottoman from there into my mom's bedroom. The 2 chairs and ottomans that were in my mom's bedroom were moved to the store last Tuesday and one of them was already sold by Wednesday morning.

John asked me to pose with the chair, lol.

How about a little tour of the antique shop?

We also bought a Sevres bowl centerpiece, a silver plated bowl and an oil painting. I am sure you will see them in future posts. John was so funny. He actually has been eyeing on this Sevres centerpiece but I kept resisting because it is big and didn't know where to put it. So, he asked me wouldn't it be nice for one of my tablescapes? LOL!

I wanted that tipping coffee urn. Lady Katherine, you should take a look at it if you ever come here. I know you want one. It is a big set on a really big heavy tray.

John was checking out this big bronze urn and it was over $4000. We did not even bother to ask what the discount was.

For my pink contribution, I have my mom in a pink dress and a pink scarf.
We went back to Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge and ate at California Pizza in the Town Square.

The courtyard is so pretty with a fountain in the center.

See the red and pink flowers?

I love this bench.

And the statues are really nice too.

Now, just a little update on the store. Those are the 2 chairs and ottomans that I moved from my mom's bedroom. One of them was already sold the day after I brought them to the store.

I brought a few more stuff last Tuesday. On Wed, we went to Baton Rouge. I stopped by the store to bring an item or 2 on Thursday and the bar set on the table and the flatware and caddy were both gone, sold! The chair had a "Sold" sign on it with the buyer's name. It was just waiting to be picked up. I am having so much fun with this shop. It's like a toy. I get to shop and I get to decorate. What more could I ask for?

Well, I hope you enjoyed these mini tours for today. I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day holiday. Drive carefully if you are going somewhere. Thanks all for coming by and thanks to our lovely hosstesses for faithfully hosting these parties every single week!

I think the shop is the perfect answer for you. You shop so much and this way, you can rotate things out when you bring things in. I think your house was going to explode with pretty things if you didn't start moving a few out! I'm so glad that it is going well.

Hi Christine,

Your Mom's such a pretty lady -- I see now where you get your looks! What a clever hubby you have, talking you into buying something HE wants by urging you to use it in a tablescape! And you got that beautiful chair -- it's so unusual (and half off!). Congrats on your success with the shop. Hope it continues to go well -- the better it does, the more shopping opportunities for you, right?

Have a great weekend!

Isn't it fun to have a husband that feeds your passion for collecting and decorating? I have one, too. He always wants to go out on his day off! LOL What a wonderful chair- you certainly look happy with it!
How fun that your little booth is doing well right off the bat. With all my excess, I should open one, too. But I would probably be buying my neighbor's goodies w/the money I make selling my goods. :-)
hugs, Sue

Christine, that chair is so unique and beautiful! What a wonderful find! Can't wait to see the other pieces you bought that night. You look so pretty - no wonder John wanted to take a picture of you. Your mother (who always amazes me) looks pretty too. Oh, I'm kind of sorry one of those chairs sold, because they look so cute in your store. What a success your business venture is turning out to be! Thank you for linking to Favorite Things. laurie
